All of us here at Colehaus Cats wish you a safe and healthy 2015! Thank you for visiting us, for reading our words, enjoying our photos, and leaving comments. We hope what we’re doing here works for you and that your visit here puts a smile on your face. As always, we’re open to suggestions to help make this a better place!

Before celebrations begin, let’s recap 2014, Colehaus Cats style:

January 2014 came with two additions to the Colehaus family – mama Zuzu and daughter, Viola. As you could imagine, Viola was anxious to become a big cat and was making friends left and right. Calendar cover boy Quint gave away a couple of calendars while Mom went on a long cleaning stint. Olivia filled us in on the current Colehaus Cat dirt and we celebrated toys, Tessa’s ‘accident’ record, and Zuzu going out of the baby business.

February brought another Olivia report. Facebook shared a movie about us and Quint sold his pre-spring paintings to help defray Zuzu and Viola’s spay-day costs. We had more toy photos to share with Sparkle’s Trap-a-Cat giveaway win (with bonus Illy Niblet photos). Pia sent her love over the airwaves to boyfriend Dexter of Cherry City Kitties and while Quint was wishing for an early spring, the squirt Viola was getting into everything!

Sunpuddles ruled the days in March and saw Viola sharing her first story. We were interviewed by Connie of Tails from the Foster Kittens and Tessa laid plans to stay in the servant’s quarters on a more permanent basis. Ruby had her first ever dental cleaning and Miss Newton tried to teach mom how to take photos. Viola continued her quest to win over everyone and both Quint and Zuzu received much appreciated gifts from friends of Colehaus Cats.

April meant more sunshine naps, Mancat photos, and our 6 month Dear Niblets letter. We introduced neighborhood cat visitor Momo, Quint went on his first spring walkabout in our garden and later, painted sweet violets. And then, Olivia was put in charge while mom was out of town. Might need to rethink that move.

In May, Olivia offered up her best motivational tips, we saw Zuzu snooze (despite her insistence she doesn’t), Ruby squealed on ‘perfect’ Quint and his bad habit, and mom shared her writing class short story assignment that was more truth than fiction. And when mom went out of town yet again, Miss Newton held down the fort and corralled shenanigans like a pro.

June brought Quint’s flowers at last and he discovered a new favorite color – Kiwi. We had fun in our interview with the Funny Farmer Felines on Mousebreath. Maxx shared a theory while Miss Newton pondered things, and Zuzu showed off her fabulous butterball size. And who knew kittens could be so curious? Ruby disagreed with furniture rearrangement, Pia’s shared a little about her Internet habit, and we had more neighborhood visitors. Some were even cats!

Roving reporter Olivia kept her nose to the grindstone in July 2014, Pia wished of Pia-Mobiles (and got them in August via her ginger prince and a whole bunch of well-wishers!), Quint influenced baby sister Viola a bit too much, and Zuzu proclaimed herself an official Patrol Officer of These Here Parts. There were Mancat Mondays, Wordless Wednesdays, and Ruby decided she likes cat towers. We revisit neighborhood visitor Scruffy and sprinkled a day with a whole lot of Ginger Goodness.

August was a month of presents. In August, not that she would let anyone forget, Pia celebrated her one year love anniversary with long distance boyfriend Dexter. Mom had to get tough with the moles wrecking her garden and storyteller Maxx tried sharing a story with Viola while other, unnamed kitties gave the kitchen faucet a workout. Ruby fell hard for her own cat tower and Zuzu shared her poof-ball play skills.

September’s slide into autumn prompted Quint to get back to painting and brought out the snuggles in Maxx, Miss Newton shared her pointy side, Zuzu celebrated one year here, and mom dished on the morning head count.

October saw our 1-year Dear Niblets letter, photos of life around Colehaus, a cute flashback, and Ruby signed up for her return of Ruby Tuesdays in 2015. The month also brought out the fun dreaded Bee Costume, the Zuzu Patrol, a day in the life of Squirt, and the offering of a very special set of Quint paintings (Sold! Thank YOU!).

November brought even more Colehaus visitors, a brief flashback to Niblet Autumn, and showed the perils of living with fun-lovin’ sisters. Ruby developed a mad crush on her cat tower, both Quint and Miss Newton got creative, and Tessa pushed her boundaries. She told us she didn’t want to leave her master suite, but did we listen? No. Silly us.

In December, mom got fixated on napping ginger girls (so adorable, she says, *rolls eyes*), Viola introduced some of her favorite toys (some of which are definitely NOT Viola’s), Tessa swears she likes everyone (but she swears all the time so that means little), and Maxx became a calendar cover boy and held his first giveaway. Ruby and Zuzu shared their favorite Christmas stories, we gave a peek into our Christmas card blooper file, and we all celebrated Christmas with a ton of cards from our treasured blog friends (close, but not actual ton).

There it is, 2014 revisited. What a wild and wonderful year it was. We’re looking forward to what the new year will bring and wish for you all a fabulous 2015 filled with joy, happiness, and excitement, and most of all, peace and love.

Thank you for visiting. Thank you for reading us.

Ready for Ruby Tuesday!

Ruby - 2015 © Colehaus Cats

Ruby – 2015 © Colehaus Cats

Hey, it’s me, Ruby. I’m just hanging out, waiting for the end of the year to pass. Because once it does, I’ll have my own day again. My blog day will be every Tuesday, just like it was a year ago. Tuesdays will be known around here as Ruby Tuesday, because I’m Ruby and I’ll be on every Tuesday. Get it?

Sure, of course you do. I’m giving credit once again to Ms. Stella O’Houligan for suggesting Ruby Tuesday initially and to all of you who wanted to see more of me. Thanks for your feedback!

Well, I guess I better get ready. I have all these furs to straighten and I’m not one to wait until the last minute, you know.

This and That Updates

From the This and That basket:

Visitor Mancat Momo - 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Visitor Mancat Momo – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Momo was attacked by someone a month ago (we suspect Tough Boy who is the neighborhood bully) and was taken in by his humans for treatment. Upon returning home, heavily medicated, sporting a drainage tube, and a Cone of Shame, he got loose, wandered the neighborhood for a short while, always just out of reach of his mom and dad until our mom cornered and scooped him up. A couple of weeks later, Momo is back visiting as if nothing happened though his shaved tail and backside and nicely healing punctures show otherwise. No photos of that because he’s a dignified Mancat.

Churchill is sleeping overnight in Geoffrey’s house three-to-four nights a week now. Our mom still can’t get close to him but she’s confident that will happen someday.

Orange neighbor kitty Whittles is becoming something of an expert on mole and vole catching. Our mom doesn’t like to see anything killed outright by wandering cats, but she can’t help but feel a bit of relief knowing those destructive burrowers won’t wreck her garden this coming spring.

In the Why department, a new visiting squirrel has a broken right wrist and paw and an atrophied left leg making him easy to spot wobbling his way along the fence top. Mom’s calling him Limpy. He’s pretty clever in that he hides from the other, bigger squirrels who tend to chase one another while leaving the unguarded squirrel nut box all for himself. Mom used to wonder why all the injured and/or dying birds and animals seem to find their way to our backyard; that was very depressing, she said. In the Answer-to-Why department, she now understands that with all the food and shelter spots that’s provided out there, the creatures see this as a paradise sanctuary of sorts. And who wouldn’t want to spend time, perhaps their last bit of time, in paradise?

As for us cats, we’re all doing very well at the moment. So well in fact, instead of pointing the camera in our faces, mom and dad went out and took photos elsewhere not too far from home. All we can say is those are some of the biggest, oddest-looking cats we’ve ever seen!
