A Dare or an Accident?

Confession time – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Okay, so I made a mistake. You see, I live on the edge, I walk a fine line, after all, I’m Danger Cat! And when another cat makes a dare, well, I’ve never backed away from a dare and I’m likely never to do so in the future either. Sorry about the dryer, mom. Good thing it was just the top and not inside, huh? You can thank me later when you’re back from your trip. Bring treats!

Back into the master bedroom she goes. We were making progress, we thought. A couple of weeks outside the bedroom with the rest of the cats without a single mishap after months spent in with Maxx and Ruby. Silly us. Of course, she LOVES that bedroom and we don’t have to worry about her jumping off the short wall down to the foyer floor or surfing down the bannister railing. Yep, just another nighttime snuggle cat. We’ll shoehorn her in between Ruby, Maxx, and Miss Newton and who’ll need a blanket?

Mustacheo – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

You’ve met Mustacheo, a neighbor’s cat. He’s loud but a big love. He’s also neutered which makes us very happy.

Mustacheo's Brother - 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Mustacheo’s Brother – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Here’s Mustacheo’s brother, who is every bit as loud and neutered too. We’ve named him Groucho. We don’t see him very often, and that’s fine with us because we’re not big on people letting their cats run loose. Too much traffic and coyotes in our area.

Scruffy - 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Scruffy – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

You’re met Scruffy. He’s about eleven or twelve years old now and while he’s slowing down just a little, he still enjoys our chilly, rainy fall weather much better than our very warm summers. He carries a thick undercoat year around that’s very soft and clean because his owners brush him often.

Whittles – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Up until this past summer, Scruffy was the smallest cat in the neighborhood. Then a neighbor brought home young orange boy Whittles here, and a sister named Princess (that was probably a mistake name). Princess is smokey dark and a scary cat who stays across the street at her home under their front porch which is why we don’t have a photo of her. Whittles is the explorer, as all orange boys tend to be…

… who apparently spends time under cars and gets grease on his ears. He’s a sweetheart. Just wish he and his sister would be inside cats. Bad neighbors.

Tough Boy - 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Tough Boy – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Also new on the Colehaus visitation round is this guy. We call him Tough Boy because he’s more apt to take a hard swipe at you than to want a light head scritch. Seriously, Tough Boy wouldn’t let us walk through our own backyard a couple of weeks ago without laying his smacky paws on our ankles. And he wasn’t in play mode either. Have to be tough back with him and then, oddly enough, he’s fine with us.

Churchill (Church) - 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Churchill (Church) – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Lastly, this is Church, short for Churchill. What a life he must have led before we ever saw him. Just look at that ear! It’s perfectly healed so the damage was done months if not years ago. Church is an early bird and unless it’s raining, he’s waiting for us to set out the Geoffrey’s House food bowl first thing in the morning. We haven’t been able to get within four feet of him but he did grace us with a great meow just the other day. Patience will win him over, we’re convinced, just like it did with Geoffrey. Can’t wait to give him and that ear good petting!

Other visitors include, of course, birds (sorry, Trout Towne Tabbies). Here’s one of our Northern Flickers just returned from a cool Canadian summer and already demanding suet. We’re such suckers.

The leaf net over the fountain is doing its job keeping leaves from clogging up the works. Soon, all the pretty leaves will have dropped, been picked up, and composted. But not just yet.

Maxx’s Take on Living with Sisters.

Relaxed Maxx - 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Relaxed Maxx – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

The trouble with living with sisters is this: I can take ’em or leave ’em… most of the time because most of the time, they give me… no, let me rephrase, they know I’m the Mancat of this room and they know better than to mess with me. I’m serious here. Do not mess with the Mancat while he is snoozing. *Mom! Can we get that needlepointed on a pillow somewhere? Pronto!*

… because I don’t think anyone wants this mug all up in their face should someone, some… sister decide to play games with me. Just say no, sisters. Got it? I’m the head honcho in this room, the big dog, the big cheese, if you will. Okay? Okay then. Now, I’m off to survey my land.

Yeah, yeah! What she said! Who would be so bold as to do such a dastardly thing? *wink wink*
