08/18/2025 – MultiCat Monday

To show there’s no hard feelings toward Quint stepping in occasionally as Patrol Sergeant, Tessa tolerated enjoyed a snuggle with Quint. Who wouldn’t on a thick, freshly washed fleecy blanket on a 90-plus degree summer afternoon?

Viola, wouldn’t you like to snuggle with your brother someday? We understand about not snuggling with Tessa, but your brother’s been sticking up for you lately. Wouldn’t you like to spend some time with him on the fleecy blanket?

“Try as I may, I don’t understand the words coming out of your mouth, Mom. And just look at those weird cats. Who in their right mind would be so intentionally close together like that?”

Guess she’s forgotten the snuggling she did as a baby Niblet with a favorite sibling all those years ago.

08/15/2025 – Finally Friday

Our neighborhood is having noisy street maintenance work done all this week and Quint is SO over the sounds of pounding, scraping and trucks tooting their big, “hey, get out of my way” horns. We ended up making him a fort upstairs with a Personal Cat Transport Device and an Ess scratcher that isn’t one of the Ess scratchers of old we all knew and loved. This one had felty carpet that Tessa’s claws instantly had its way with (read: destroyed). Where are you, old school Ess scratchers? Quint and enquiring minds wish to know.

Meanwhile, Ess Destroyer Tessa shows how much loud trucks and street work bothers her. “Just another day on the ranch,” she says. Hmm, since when does she think she lives on a ranch?

“Since I’ve decided that little sister of mine needs to be rounded up and hog-tied.”

Um, n0. Not going to happen, Tessa. Get over it.

Meanwhile meanwhile . . .

. . . the little sister Viola, who wouldn’t hurt a fly, wait . . . That’s not true. Just last week, not only did she hurt a fly, she ate it, too. Anyway, Viola, who’s maybe instigated 2 tussles with Tessa ever, is safely ensconced high up in her kitchen island box, working on the backside of a tan. She’s rarely bothered by any noises, even the big mean-sounding honks of the road construction trucks outside. But get her into a tight situation with Tessa . . . hey, maybe Tessa sounds like a big mean-sounding honking thing to her?

“The only thing I’m honking is my cuteness factor. I am honking cute!”
