02/02/2018 – No Groundhogs, but …

… we’ve got a fat, chilly squirrel who could care less about shadows. “Just gimme the nuts, lady,” he says.

“Go away, lady,” the reindeer herd who lives nearby says. “Don’t you get tired of trying to photograph us every year?”

“Mom, it’s not your photography today that bothers me. It’s that you aren’t petting me. Right. This. Minute.”

In a strange turn of events, Tessa has decided she likes snuggle and petting time.

What? It’s only been….um, five years now…

… and she actually likes staying in the master bedroom most of the day AND all night long, every night. Like the troublesome child who gets grounded to her room, only for parents to learn she enjoys going there, we’re beginning to wonder if Tessa gets into trouble elsewhere just so she can be grounded to the bedroom where furry ones enjoy specialized attention, occasional treats, mostly uninterrupted nap time, goose down comforters and fleece blankets, a bird’s eye view of the backyard, and their own TV remote. What’s there not to like? She’s a smart, crafty one!

We love watching critters of any kind!

  2. Huh… We’re thinking Tessa is very, very smart.

  3. kittiesblue says:

Wow, Tessa, can we come get grounded at your house? Sounds PURRFECT! Six of the eight of us hang out in the bedroom at night, specifically taking up every inch of the bed possible. Our humans wish we weren’t so smart and crafty! That is one chunky squirrel. We have four resident ones, so none are that fat; though, they monopolize the bird feeders. What fantastic photo of the squirrel. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  4. Oh Tessa, you have them all flamboozaled. Way to go girl!

  5. Summer says:

Tessa’s no dummy, that’s for sure!

  6. Madi and Mom says:

I don’t mind watching them ‘fail’ at trying to get on the bird feeders but they get on my last nerve when the get up on my deck and shake their bushy tails in my face
    Hugs madi your bfff

n watch out for thoz deer N squirrel…they izza vizshuz lot ~~~~~~ 🙂

  9. Tessa and Bear Cat would get a long well … there’d be a battle of wits and craftiness. Then again, who can blame her? The master bedroom sounds like a great place – especially for humans!

  10. MOL! We like Tessa’s style. What a smart girl she is. 😉

  11. Nice photo of deer butts!
It’s funny that you mention Tessa likes to be in her sanctuary…The Hubby and I think that maybe Angel feels best in the upstairs ‘apartment’; on her own and with several visits from her humans to fawn over her, she’s happiest! We may have a breakthrough in our bumpy integration road.

  12. That sounds worth getting into trouble for.

  13. 15andmeowing says:

Great photos. I am glad Tessa has decided she likes to cuddle.

  14. Cuddles are always good!

  15. Good for you, Tessa! Love that little squirrel 🙂

  16. Congratulations, Tessa!! It only took you five years to train your humans. MOL!!! We have to chuckle at how humans keep trying to convince themselves they are smarter than we are. We know the truth, don’t we?
