Our Mom is busy making toys for the shelter’s upcoming Christmas Tree auction. She keeps complaining she doesn’t have time for this. If that’s the case, these catnip mousies must be multiplying by themselves because there are at least a dozen of them stuffed in a bag waiting to be hung up. All except this one, that is. This one’s mine!*

*Mom’s note: Tessa didn’t get to keep this one but don’t worry. I’ll make a mousie just for her, later.

On the other side of the house and three hundred and twenty-two failed, blurry photos later, Illy checks out a different set of auction tree ornaments. Looking at those things now, and if we were Illy, we think we’d want to chew all those big felty eyeballs off right this very minute!

Luckily for us, one group photo turned out. It’s a pretty big photo so please click on it to enlargerate. Warning: We’re not sure what was going on with Robbie’s stare. Obviously, he was really, REALLY into watching that dangling toy to get that kind of goofy look out of him!

I’m really glad that lady is back from wherever she went last week. I missed her reading me stories and spending time together. I like that she doesn’t make me go into that other room if I don’t want to. I like the box she put together for me for when I want to be left alone. I like that I can talk to her and she talks back. We can snuggle under the covers when it’s chilly and she picks up on when I’m riled up and in a whapping mood. She makes up my bed every day, knows how I like my pettings and just how I take my afternoon brushings – all cheek, no ear. Now I ask you, who else could get all that right?

Just between you and me, I kind of like her now.

Yippee for more Niblet visitors! Yesterday was a busy day here at the Colehaus Bouncy Room of Kittehs. We saw how well mama Erinn Zuzu gets along with other poeple. We learned that everyone is just about ready for Neko Fly toys and that both Viola and Robbie will fall asleep on anyone’s lap. We also heard Russell purr for the first time, making him the second Niblet to start that wonderful sound. Miss Illy already purrs her pretty head off at the drop of a paw, which goes nicely along with her cool, calm nature and uber-smart senses (already at such a young age!), but sadly, she’s the only one who hasn’t had much adoption interest as of yet. We hope that changes in the next couple of weeks!

Olivia Approves.

If you missed it Saturday, our Dear Niblets, Week Six letter is here. Also, a Niblet interviewed a potential foster family over the weekend, with help from another Niblet and by ‘interviewing,’ we mean falling asleep in a lap for a hour despite all the “aww-ing” and cooing and kissing.

Four times a year we decorate for the season – winter, spring, summer and fall. We’ve significantly toned it back from years past in keeping with today’s sparser interior decor trends, and partly due to cat tastes.

You did know that cats dictate home decor, right? We’re not so much talking about leather versus pleather versus chenille, hardwood versus carpet or fresh flowers versus silks, but taking into account the “toy” factor.

Whenever out shopping (or browsing) when viewing some bauble, the questions alway comes up. Is that a toy? How long before it becomes a toy? Who’s toy will this become and how fast? Doesn’t matter if it’s a fist-sized clay mock orange or a 1940’s Belgium sideboard, sooner or later, they all becomes toys. The key is to plan and embrace that fact, mixed with just a bit of hope that the season will pass without much notice. Cat notice, that is.

Seasonal Decor Supervisor Olivia approves of the fall fruit… and plans ahead on how and when each apple, orange and lime will entertain her for hours. Already missing from the arrangement before photos were taken, the pinecones *sigh*.
