Multicat Monday – Those Gingers.

We have no doubt that if Zuzu saw Pia watching her, there would be words. Bad words that we can only surmise came from watching too much HBO. She’s a spunky one, that Zuzu. And Pia’s never been one to back down either.

The exact opposite could be said of Pia and Miss Newton. Not big on words, their conversations are quiet and big on mutual purrs.

The jury’s still out on Pia and The Squirt. We think that’s because The Squirt has a million questions and Pia has other things to do (like sending daily air kisses to her long distance boyfriend, Dexter) than to answer questions Viola has already asked a hundred times, like, “Why are you orange?” and “What’s that long, floofy thing on your butt?” If it isn’t, “Mom! Mom! Mom!” from The Squirt all day, it’s, “Pia! Pia! Pia!” You know how young ‘uns can be.

Quint’s Favorite Kind of Fireworks.

Well, that loud, booming day is upon us once again and Quint doesn’t understand why so much noise is necessary. No sir, he doesn’t like it and we’re not too fond of it either.

Quint says: Can’t you tell the loud humans that I’d like to go out for a walk to see the bright flowers?

Flowers are soooooo much better than scary booming sounds, like these petunias here.

Wait! I have to check something out. Nope, no loud noises in there. Flowers are so much more polite than things going BOOM!

Nothing but loud color here either.

Good whiffies and good inspiration for painting! Time to get to work before all that racket begins in earnest!

He’s back to painting, this time using bold paw strokes and hot, summer colors. Go take a peek at his Burst of Summer 2014 paintings. This is a limited run of only six. He’s pretty proud of them.

As for this day of scary, booming sounds, sorry, sweetie. We don’t understand it either. Our town keeps promising no more fireworks but that decision seems to get pushed back farther and farther in favor of sales and profit. So, in a few hours, we’ll join the kitties under our bed where we’ll make a cool fort and reread out loud the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee book by flashlight.

Colehaus Visitors – Scruffy

Colehaus Visitor Scruffy – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Scruffy, or Scruffs as we call him, is a neighborhood cat that several families look after. He first visited us in 2003 when he was a six month old kitten, learning the ropes of outdoor life. That alarmed us, as it always does, but Scruffy’s owner, a nice older lady, assured us he’d be fine. And it turned out, he was and still is.

Even though his original owner moved to an assisted living home years ago, her daughter who moved to our neighborhood, cares for Scruffs. Scruffs was good friends with old Geoffrey, and now that he’s the old man of the neighborhood, has little use for those young rowdy ones like Momo, Cocoa, or Mustachio. But he always has time for us.
