Mom made me a T-Shirt cave out of my favorite box and one of my dad’s t-shirts and I liked it so much, I *might* have gotten carried away with chewing on parts of it. I mean, it smelled so good, like dad who plays toys with me in the evenings. Mom thought I was chewing on the box but dad’s t-shirt *might* have gotten in the way of my teefs. Mom said they did, anyway.

So I had to have a talk with mom. You know, one of those talks where she does all the talking and I have to sit and do all the listening? Something about chewing dad’s shirt and how dad wouldn’t be happy and how I needed a time-out to think about what I had done and how I was going to tell him about that hole.

Feeling a little shamed, I thought about my actions for a while. How I see it, if my dad didn’t smell so good, maybe I wouldn’t have been tempted. Or, maybe he wouldn’t notice that teensy hole, or wouldn’t mind knowing his baby liked his shirt just as much as he does. Maybe mom shouldn’t have tempted me in the first place and if so, whatever happened wouldn’t really be my fault at all. In that case, I wouldn’t have to answer for it. Mom would!

And so, while mom was doing something else, I marched right back to that T-Shirt cave, made out of my favorite box and my dad’s t-shirts and picked back up where I left off.

Shortly after, my mom took the T-Shirt cave apart and I’ll bet dad’s t-shirt is hanging back up in the closet. I watch my dad get dressed every day and he’s yet to wear that particular t-shirt so maybe he doesn’t know yet. If mom had said anything, he’d surely would have said something.

Let’s keep this secret between just you and me, okay? No one wants a wee one to get into trouble, right?
