Finally, it’s a little cooler around here and that means snuggle time with the fleece and sharing with my friend, Miss Newton. She’s a good cat, never chases me, respects my space, and is sensitive to my cautious, prefer-to-be-an-only-cat nature.

A brief update on Wednesday’s Wordless Wednesday post, yes, Danger Cat Tessa did slide down the bannister. Miss Newton gave her a little push and down she went. Miss Newton then was about to follow Tessa when mom jumped up to put an end to that nonsense. Miss Newton jumped down from the railing and took the stairs like every good cat should *glaring at you, Tessa!*

After several sit down talks with very strict and perpetually grumpy Patrol Sergeant Zuzu, we talked her into taking a break, a kind of summer vacation, if you will. We’d like to see her relax as well as give everyone else around here some much needed time off.

And after a day or two of decompression, she discovered we actually have fun toys in the house to play with. Imagine that!

Well, not all toys are appealing. She checked out the Tickle Pickle, a toy that’s been a hit with almost everyone else, and while there were some interesting whiffs to be had, she didn’t think it was all that and a bag of treats.

Instead of walking the household beat every hour day and night checking for expired permits and forged fun licenses, she now spends her time playing AND surfing the Internet. Her favorite site this week features a scampery kitten cam; much better than browsing Amazon.com for those self help books – How to Deal with Unruly Housemates, Patrol Sergeant to Master Commander in 30 Days, Strategies for Controlling Your Family First – The World Second, and The Idiot’s Guide to Creating a Feline Army.

At last, she’s found the key to a great vacation. What vacation doesn’t include long, luxurious afternoon naps? Better still, a nap with a favorite toy, perhaps? Or even someone else’s toy? Maybe that’s the key that makes the nap all the better!
(We’re not telling Pia that Zuzu sleeps with her purple nip butterfly now.)
