Hey look! It’s Patrol Sergeant Zuzu and Miss Itty Growly Pants. Together! Remember when we thought Zuzu wouldn’t get along with anyone? Well, it seems these two share a passion for quiet and a dislike for loud shenanigans. In fact, Zuzu is calling for quiet even now because a couple of someones somewhere in the house are being anything but quiet.

Hear that, Tessa? Quint? Everyone can hear you tussling and you’ll want to be aware we might have two patrol sergeants in the house now!

Miss Itty is tolerant of other cats as long as everyone minds their space and their own business. She is being fostered through the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society.

This is Miss Itty’s catnip pillow. It’s called Stripey Tiger and has an orange striped cat on it.

Perhaps Miss Itty loves her stripey catnip pillow too much because, well, we’ll go on record saying one must be very stealthy if planning to separate Miss Itty from her catnip. Thank goodness for clipped claws!

In the month she has been with us, here are six new things learned about Miss Itty:

1) Miss Itty loves playing with the red dot.

2) Loves catnip. Not a fan of silvervine, interestingly enough.

3) Miss Itty is SUPER lovey in the morning and least likely to be Ms. Growly-Pants. We think she used to be fed wet food in the early morning hours so maybe this is why. We feed wet food in the evening so we’ve both had to make adjustments.

4) Is getting along with just about every cat here, as long as everyone minds their own P’s & Q’s and gives Miss Itty her space (hear that, Viola?).

5) She likes her pretty teal collar. We further reduced her anxiety by removing her dangly, heart-shaped nametag that kept clicking/clacking/banging against her food bowls. No more growling when eating now.

6) Quandary: What is with pulling her water bowl around, thereby sloshing water all over the place? She LOVES doing this. She also likes drinking from whatever water is left in the bowl while it is still sloshing thereby getting water up her nose. If we didn’t think it would drive us batty at night, we’d consider putting a fountain in her big kennel cage. Then again, she’d probably/most certainly find a way to knock the water out of that and the motor would burn out.

Miss Itty’s personality is starting to make itself clearer to us. She’s still Ms. Growly-Pants but not as often and not always because she is upset over something. She enjoys taking over the bed all day, napping, sleeping, checking out the afternoon soaps on the POP cable channel. At night, she curls up on her Ham-mick in her kennel cage and sleeps through most of the night now. She is a sweetheart but she’s also her own cat, relishing time spent in the same room as her human and not much attention paid directly to her. She loves the thought of petting, but not the actual petting itself. She will make someone looking for a beautiful and quiet girl a wonderful addition to their home.

03/16/2016 – Friends of Colehaus

Our friend, Joan, has been a collector of Quint’s art from the beginning and she graciously shares photos of the most incredible picture frames she finds for his art. We’re a little embarrassed to admit we don’t have a single one of Quint’s paintings framed and hung, though that’s not for lack of trying. Let’s just say IKEA makes great, clean-lined, although a bit boring, photo frames, and we have a knack for always purchasing the wrong size. Or the one with a side coming apart. Or with broken glass. Or is crooked. Or… or… or…

Joan found Rustic Springs, a wonderful shop located in Ocean Springs, Mississippi that specializes in beautifully custom-made picture frames. Business owners John, with his wife Mary, have been woodworking for 20-plus years and in 2010, realized their dream of starting their own business through Esty.

We are thrilled and honored to be gifted a beautiful, custom-color Rustic Springs picture frame from Joan. Now, this is a picture frame you could only wish everyone would make! Beautifully hand-crafted! The hard part was figuring out which piece of Quint art to mount in it. Quint’s Starry Night looks amazing, the blue-over-black color in the frame matches perfectly to Quint’s blue-on-black Starry Night colors. In the end, we chose Quint’s most current winter painting, Winter Ombré 2016. Again, the custom blue in the frame plays wonderfully off the blue in his painting, making it appear as though the painting was created specifically to match the frame. Simply gorgeous!

Quint is very hands-on… er, paws-on when it comes to offering thanks to his friends and fans, choosing to be a part of the process whether it be paw-tographing a custom piece of art or special card, or sitting for a photo with a gift or donation piece. He gave Joan’s frame a good sniffing of approval (Quint’s Sniff of Approval – QSoA™), and sat posed for a number of photos; one we hoped to include with our thank you.

Sixty-some photos later, we got one shot and still, we had to photo-shop someone else’s tail out. Seems a couple of someones wanted to be in the picture, because, you know, if Quint deems something good, it’s definitely worth risking getting in the way of Mom’s camera!

Again, we are thrilled to have a truly beautiful frame to display one of Quint’s paintings. Thank you, Joan, for thinking of us and sharing with us your incredible finds.
