03/02/2020 – Around Colehaus

It rained a lot over the winter and with rain comes moss here in the Pacific Northwest. Some we leave, some we scrub off. Mom admits she’s a moss fan so this batch is probably staying.

With Spring just around the corner, it’s time for blooming things.

And on those rare dry, sunny winter days, we’ve had visitors.

Neighbor cat W finally has a new collar and tags after losing his old ones around Christmas. This one jiggles nicely and is pretty, too.

W’s sister P visits every single day, probably because every single day, there’s a bit of kibble outside in the feral feeding station. Smart girl!

Dearest Scruffy is still with us and visits almost every day. He’s very old and painfully thin now, but he loves the outdoor kibble and hopes to see Dad every time he visits because, as we all know, Dad gives the best pettings. Scruffy lives just a little down the street and is loved and well cared for.

New to the feeding station is a black, floofy male we’re pretty sure belongs to a nearby neighbor. He’s friendly and a little cautious and very soft. He’s learning Mom doesn’t like seeing him out under the bird feeder while learning she likes to call him Mew Mew. Hey, call him whatever you like. Just don’t call him late for dinner!

Geoffrey’s House and the two heated feral shelters (Spitty’s Place and the Cat Blogosphere Den) have overnight guests most nights. We think Mew Mew, P, and Winston Wally Olly Porkchop use them all, and we’re very happy about that!

And speaking of Winston Wally Olly Porkchop, he picked Mom’s lap to sun himself recently. Naturally, Mom couldn’t get the best photo but this one works.

We’re still hanging in there and getting through each week hoping for the best. Dad continues to look for a better paying job with a living wage and Mom’s working six days a week now. We think we’re good until the end of June/early July on our bills, mortgage, and food, and we’re both trying to keep positive, stay motivated, and getting enough sleep. Worry and fear of losing everything continues to nibble around the edges but as Mom keeps saying, “Anything could happen at any time.” It’s true!

Recently, we were gifted use of a Canon Vixia camcorder using Adobe Premier Elements version 10. It’s an older cam and older software, both in good working condition. The owner could never figure out how to use the Elements 10 software and we’re a bit befuddled, too. Mom’s convinced the very moment she has any extra time to breathe, she’ll look to YouTube to figure out how to use it and hopes to become a regular video poster of the Colehaus Cats in action. All that napping has just got to be interesting to someone!

Thanks for visiting and for your continued good thoughts! Have a great March!

Here’s a 100-piece online jigsaw puzzle of Winston Wally Olly Porkchop sunning himself on Mom’s lap. Lots of gingery orange to work with there. Have fun!
