10/29/2021 – A Talk with Tessa

Tessa, today you were going to tell everyone what’s been on your mind lately. Do you remember agreeing to that, a few weeks ago? You seemed fairly interested in doing that at the time.

The key word there would be “seemed” along with the phrase “at the time.” Do I have to do that right this minute? I’m resting here.

Well, yeah. Mom wanted to get that blog post created and well, Mom does tend to have an elephant’s long memory.

Oh, okay. Fine. Let’s get this over with.

Great! So, what’s been on your mind? You seemed to have a lot to say a couple of days ago to your brother Quint. Care to share what that was about?

No, not really.

Okay, so what was on your mind later when you were sitting under your favorite kitchen stool? You seemed to be very deep in thought.

Hmm, nothing really. Maybe I had gas.

Well, let’s talk about something other than that.

Fine by me. Wait. I have an unruly bit of fur.

So, ready now? Can we get your thoughts on anything important?

You’re implying my unruly fur is unimportant? That might well be the most important thing of my entire day! And you’re saying that isn’t important??

We said no such thing, and you’re putting words in our mouth, Tessa. You simply seemed to have a lot to say a few days ago and a month ago, you agreed to share your thoughts for an entire blog post. Obviously, we caught you at a bad time.

Obviously.

Okay, then. We’ll revisit this conversation another time. You know Mom’s not going to forget this, temperamental Tuxie girl. And we’re betting you’ll have a lot to say about that, too!

10/27/2021 – Woe-less Wednesday

Tessa © Colehauscats.com

We’re calling this Woe-less Wednesday in celebration of yesterday in which NOT A SINGLE CHAOTIC THING HAPPENED. Nothing broke or got broken. Nothing stopped working. No one lost their job. No one barfed or pooped outside of a litter box (humans excluded). No one got yelled at for scratching the couch or antagonizing someone else or lounging on the forbidden kitchen table (again, humans excluded).

All Colehaus Cats seemed to actually get along with one another. Noses were gently sniffed. Warm spots were somewhat shared. All came running at the sound of the treat bag (Dad included).

We’ll hope we’ve turned a positive corner at long last, despite that mischievous twinkle in Tessa’s eyes that usually spells trouble ahead.

10/25/2021 – MultiCat Monday and Stuff

Just another Monday morning around here. Tessa’s telling Quint off, Quint’s deciding he wants nothing to do with Tessa’s attitude, and Olivia’s taking it all in to report about it all later to Mom. Yep, all is well.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Lately, we’ve been asked how we’re doing and since Mom is finally over the coughing cold/flu thing Dad brought home from getting his Covid booster, she says we’re as good as can be expected. Dad’s still looking for a job that pays more than just over minimum wage. He had a couple of interviews recently for jobs he was excited about but as has become usual, was told he was their number two pick and he didn’t get either job.

Mom’s hanging in there at her manual labor job and survived a scary change in management a few months ago. She has a small raise coming up next February/March that just might offset the rise in this year’s medical benefits cost. The really good thing is she finally has a company-matching 401K going and even though she is very, very, very late to that game, she knows some money later is much better than no money later.

Quint, Olivia, and Viola are all eating wet food diets exclusively now. We thought Tessa would jump on board, too, but she stopped eating after two days, the same as Pia did when we tried switching her over from dry to wet a couple of months ago. It’s just not their time yet, which is okay. We can’t yet afford five cats on wet food alone anyway.

Quint is not painting, so, no, he’s no longer in the painting business. Between Mom’s long work hours and changing Covid restrictions and our closest post office closing its doors, that sweet boy had to hang up his talent. We offer our deepest apologies to anyone holding out hope that we might start up again. We just don’t see it happening anytime soon.

Thank you, angels, who have sent us things off our Amazon wish list and elsewhere – tea, enchilada sauce, Quint’s (and Olivia and Viola) wet food, and some cat toys! You thinking of us warms our hearts and we very much appreciate your thoughts and kind words. You’ve helped to keep us going for this long and again, we thank you.
