Goodbye August. Take our heartfelt thanks for not being scorching hot and just . . . go. We’re dreaming of cool, wet weather and the sound of rain on the roof. Mom’s sad to see another summer slip away without getting to spend much time enjoying the garden, all her hard work spent and not much time just sitting and taking it all in. This happens every summer now and her heart feels just as heavy as her first “missed” summer when she went back to work 8 years ago. But, boy, oh boy, does she and Dad LOVE autumn! Bring it!

While we’re waiting (until the second half of October when cool, wet weather actually does arrive), here comes trouble.

Tessa’s not a fan of fruit. Give her a fruit fly, maybe, but not plain old boring fruit. Still, there are some stray cherries there perhaps looking for an escape. Any other Colehaus Cat would probably bat those around, ensuring they leave juicy red streaks across the floor all the way over and under the fridge where it’s reported, wayward cherries prefer to hide.

Okay, apparently, these cherries are safe. She turned and walked away. Tessa’s unimpressed with this particular batch of cherries, maybe because they were a very late season purchase and well, just not quite up to the usual juiciness that a good, well-rounded summer cherry aspires to be.

Good for you, sister. I wouldn’t waste my time on those dried up cherry raisins either.
Oh, be quiet, Quint. You’re just grumpy that you didn’t get to the cherries first.
