Meet the Visitors – Spring Hawk.

Falcon visiting the feeders at Colehaus. 2012 © Colehaus Cats.

A few months ago, something in the backyard caused a stir at the windowsill. Expecting another squirrel in the flowerbox, we were surprised to see a large falcon swoop in and settle on the back fence. Good thing no cats were out there or any little birds in the feeder either!

Since then, we’ve seen the falcon a number of times. We’ve named it Phil. A neighbor frightened it once when it was sitting on their deck. It then flew into their house! For less than a minute, then it was back outside again. Scared the neighbor half to death (not to mention pooped on a rug). Let’s not do that again anytime soon, okay Phil?

Fences good, livingrooms bad. Got it? We’re sure you do.

Back in the Day…

The Colehaus Boys. 2012 © Colehaus Cats.

Back in the day…

*ignores loud sighs from the audience*

…the boys of Colehaus played with one another.

*coughs*

Okay, that’s not true. Seth played with Maxx. Maxx usually squealed his dislike for playing with Seth. Now, keep in mind, both boys had had their claws removed long before we found and rescued them (PLEASE don’t do this, people!) so we were never quite sure what Maxx was squealing about. He just did and still does when he doesn’t get his way or when Seth decides it’s playtime.

But back in the day, a time or two existed when the tables turned and Maxx was the one who wanted to play.

Or maybe just glare at his brother Seth. “Soon,” Maxx says here. “Soon.”

Newton, on Contrast and Blending.

Contrast and Shadow. Newton. 2012 © Colehaus Cats.

A well-mannered cat should bring something to the table. She should blend well but contrast a little too, of course in a favorable light. A little soft, a little firm, not too shadowy or demanding and with an agreeable amount of getting along.

Oh, we were supposed to be talking about flooring and cats? Why would I ever do that??
