More Tabby. Olivia’s Stripes.

Sweet Olivia – October 2012. 2012 © Colehaus Cats.

We don’t know what it is but everytime we photograph Olivia, we end up seeing all kinds of fuzz and stray fur and pieces of litter/food/hair on her in the results. She’s the only cat we’ve wanted to dust before photographing! We’ve not resorted to that just yet, but Photoshop gets a workout before publishing. Funny how none of that fluff comes out on the other cats. Then again, Olivia is our only black panther. And because we have standards, *puffs out chest* don’t expect to see any dusty cats here anytime soon! Photoshop away!

The other day however, the light was just right and we saw something we’d never want to Photoshop away. Something that made us smile so big, we thought our faces were gonna freeze that way. You know Olivia’s become such a snuggle bug sweetheart and she’s always hanging out wherever we are and making the cutest little sounds. Not mews, just…sounds. Well, she was lounging on one of the office desks and we looked over and well, see for yourself.

Do you see them? Look there, on her back legs, on her side and belly, there on her forearms. Maybe another picture will help. This one’s in different light.

Now do you see them? Deep black stripes! Our littlest girl has Tabby in her! Oh JOY! We LOVE Tabby stripes and this means every single Colehaus Cat has Tabby stripes.

Welcome to the club, Miss Olivia Secret Stripes. Not only did we know you were special, now we know you are Tabby-special too!

Pondering Cardboard.

Comtemplating a Scratcher.
2012 © Colehaus Cats.

Of all the inventions humans have created for us cats, why do you suppose they think cardboard is so good for scratching on? Everybody knows cardboard is for eating and biting and for making boxes so boys like me have something to squeeze into.

Take this scratcher, if you will. Please. I mean, really, take it. I can’t bite it, I don’t want to eat it and I can’t figure out how to make it into a box. So here I am, left to sit on the dang fool thing which doesn’t do me one hoot of any good.

And yet, somehow, it draws me near and makes me want to completly ignore the Basket of Nippy Toy Goodness. Why? It’s a mystery and one I sit to ponder again and again.

Over-Reaching. 3 Words.

Mom: “PIA, NO!”

Aww shucks, Mom! 2012 © Colehaus Cats.

(To clarify why Mom yelled NO at Pia: On the other side of the wide shelf Miss Newton is lying on is the twenty foot drop to the foyer floor (the one Danger Cat Tessa intentionally launched herself down onto back in September. Add Pia’s extra toe fluff to one smooth shelf surface and we were afraid Pia would slide right off and over the edge. So this wouldn’t happen in the future, we’ve moved the chair Pia was attempting to jump from a few feet further from the shelf. Whew!)
