Holding Out.

We have a confession to make. We’ve been holding something back… just temporary, mind you. Until we knew that all would be okay. Looks like things are going swimmingly.

Meet our temporary boarder, Winter, who will be staying with us for just a couple of weeks to fine tune her social skills and learn important Colehaus Cats secrets like proper pounce and attack of furry mice, clear vocalization to get immediate kisses and correct usage of shrimp versus salad forks for those all important upcoming state dinners. With how beautiful she is, surely everyone will want to come meet her.

Winter is a sweet, blue-eyed girl born just two days before the Niblets. She arrived at Colehaus just last Saturday and after a few cautious hours, is in love with our kitten room. She is spoken for, plays and eats well, and mama Erinn Zuzu has taken her under her wing which we think is incredibly sweet, especially given Niblet Robbie’s adoption the past weekend and Niblet Russell’s upcoming adoption next weekend. Honestly, Erinn Zuzu has been a perfect mama and hostess.

After Saturday, we’ll be down two Niblets, plus one. We don’t think anyone will notice, except maybe us and you. So because Erinn has taken to Winter so well, we’re making this sweet baby an honorary Niblet.

Shhh, I’m posing like one of my lady’s favorite Dutch engraver/painter’s cats. Cornelis Visscher lived in the early 1600’s. No one knows the name of his sleeping cat but had it been me, I would have made sure everyone knew it!

That snow that Ruby warmly snuggled herself against last week came at the end of the week. While it wasn’t very much on our street, the temperature has stayed below freezing ever since. Late yesterday evening, we got even more flakes, but they say we’ll be warming up later in the week and back on our usual rainy Pacific Northwest schedule… which will melt all this terrific ice on our backyard fountain.

In case you missed it, we posted our Dear Niblets, Week Nine with a Good-bye last Saturday. Robbie was picked up by her forever family who welcomed her with loving arms. What we didn’t mention in Saturday’s post, because we didn’t really know much at the time, was that at the same time that Robbie was being whisked away, Illy was interviewing a couple of potential forever families for herself. And may have found the perfect one! We’ll know more after applications have been processed.

And last week, while we were alternating between being very, very happy and very sad to see Robbie go, we were positively ecstatic to have received our Ham-micks in time for Robbie to enjoy them with all her siblings. They love this thing! If you don’t have one for your kitty, you really ought to pick one up. Forty Paws, the makers of the Ham-micks, has a two-fer deal going on, and thank goodness for that because although the other one we received was slated as ‘just a spare,’ Maxx grabbed it and made it all his. Looks like we’re going to need a few more (which makes complete sense now)!
