The Last Ruby Tuesday.

The last Ruby Tuesday post? Well, never say never and all that. After almost a year of Ruby Tuesday days, Ruby requested something different and so, we’re ending our Ruby Tuesdays for now and we’ll add her occasionally to the regular Monday, Wednesday and Friday postings. But then again, something different just might include another Ruby Tuesday post here and there. Ruby will probably request one or two of those in the coming year.

Ruby says: I had a good year! We, meaning I, got a cat tower for Christmas and I like it! But I’m not terribly fond of that scampering miniature cat-like creature. I’m not sure it has any smarts in that tiny head. I keep hissing at it but don’t you know, it just keeps trying my patience, especially when I’m quietly enjoying a primo spot on this tower. Someone, please, talk some sense into that thing!

And another thing: That larger thing, you know, the orange stumpy rump one? Nope, not liking it any better than the first time it resided in my room. Can’t those two give a deserving girl some peace?

And speaking of lack of peace, already there are booming things going off outside. I don’t want to be a complainer but I’ve got to say I don’t like it. Mom says she’ll spend time under the bed with me again like she did on that noisy July day and that will make it better. Maybe she’ll bring the cat tower under there too!

Well, happy booming day! See you next year!

Niblet Updates!

Over the weekend, we received a great update on Robbie Niblet who now has the beautiful name of Tallia:

“Glad to hear Erin will stay. She’s a great lady. Also a quick update Robbie (a.k.a. Tallia). She is doing great. After a short period of trying to get her bearings in the new home she quickly took over. She has no fear of telling anyone what she wants and what to do. She still wakes up and is hungry right away. She will run to where we are and announce with all her heart that her tummy is empty. She’s quickly shown where the yummys are and get right down to eating. After that it’s on to her toys and to run a few laps around the downstairs part of the house. After a while she gets tired and runs to anyone to demands a warm lap to curl up in, and that scene repeats all day. Once the lights go out she gets quiet and curls up to sleep the night. She’s a total sweetheart and moves even the toughest hearts when they visit. So, worry not for this nibblet, she’s the queen of the castle here and will be forever.”

Thank you, Tallie’s (Robbie) family! We are so happy to hear she is doing well! We’re sending many good wishes to you for a wonderful new year!

Russell and big sister Gerty catching window whiffies – December 2013

We also received an update on Russell from his forever family, including older sister Gerty:

“It is hard to believe that two weeks have already passed since we welcomed little Russell into our home. He is such a sweet cat; thanks again for all the love you both showed him.

You will be happy to know that Russell and Gerty are getting along extremely well. After the initial meet and greet process, Gerty and Russell have been inseparable. There has been lots and lots of playing, and Russell and Gerty are quickly becoming the buddies we had hoped they would be. With all of the licking and grooming, we think Russell is even bringing out a little bit of Gerty’s mommie instincts.

Their favorite activities so far are wrestling on the bed, often on top of Clair and I, and tag, followed by grooming. Even though Russell has his own food bowl and box, the two of them seem content with sharing. Gerty is even sharing the top perch on her beloved cat tree with Russell–that, we did not expect. In fact, as I write this the two of them are nuzzled up on the top perch taking a little nap together 🙂

Thank you again for all of your efforts with the Nibblets. Happy Holidays!”

Thank you so much, Russell’s forever family, for sharing Russell’s progress. We are thrilled to hear he and Gerty are getting along! Happy Holidays and all the best for 2014 and beyond!

Well, we did it! You, readers, and us, we all helped raise good Niblets. We are convinced that each of them felt all the love you shared and were sending their way. Please take a moment to thank yourselves, give a pat on your back, eat a cookie, tell yourself you are wonderful because you are. We and the Niblets thank you!

In case you missed it, we shared big news last Saturday in our last Dear Niblets letter. You really ought to go read it, but if you’d rather we cut to the chase, mama Erinn Zuzu has changed her name to just Zuzu.

Oh, and both her and the littlest Niblet Viola became Colehaus Cats, permanently! Mom says neither she nor Dad could bear to let them go after spending so much time together (though Mom might have been thinking otherwise last night when Viola insisted on sleeping on her face!).

That brings the number of Colehaus Cats up to… um, a bunch which is one more than we’d prefer but… we’ve always considered the number a lucky one so we’re determined to make it work. Plus, Miss Newton, Olivia and Pia are helping both Zuzu and Viola fit in! We think Pia, in particular, is already enamored with Viola. How could she not be?

Dear Niblets, Week Twelve.

Dear Erinn Zuzu and Viola Niblet,

This is our last Niblet letter. How quickly the last twelve weeks have passed. We’ll admit there were times we thought this day would never come. But mostly, we dreaded its arrival. And if we could have stopped time, we would have, to spend another moment with all of you. From a roly-poly mama with her teensie-tiny furball kittens, Erinn Zuzu, Viola, you are all who are left of the Niblets. Illy and Winter have gone to their forever home together and we wish them well. We bet they’re tickled pink over the wonderful life that lies ahead of them.

Just as precious to the character George Bailey in “It’s a Wonderful Life,” was his youngest daughter, Zuzu, you will always be as precious to us. To us, you are a ginger princess, our gingersnap mama, our Zuzu, just Zuzu without the ‘Erinn’ part, and your Niblets as precious as Zuzu’s petals who were kept for safe keeping until it was time to fly with the wind to wonderful homes with families who have promised to love them forever as we did.

Viola, the littlest Niblet, December 27 – 2013 © Colehaus Cats

Viola, the littlest Niblet, you are trying so hard to make us love you. Every day with you is a treat! How you greet us with your wide eyes and tiny meows, how you seek us out and love to be held and pet. Do you know we’ve loved you for a very long time? Your beautiful ticked tabby fur and your stubby behind make us think of something wild, a sweet bunny from the fields come to romp at our feet, climb into our laps and quietly gaze into our eyes. You have had our hearts from the beginning and we cannot bear to let you or your mama go.

Zuzu and Viola, will you let us love you forever? We know there are a lot of other cats here but we know you will fit in. It might take a little time for everything to be perfect but we’re more than willing to work at it if you are. Will you be ours? Will you be the last of our Colehaus Cats and make our family complete?

The papers have been drawn up and now, you are ours and we are yours. We suspect you already had that in mind and that is just fine with us. May you never tire of our millions of kisses, Zuzu and Viola. Welcome to our family.

All our love forever and ever,
your Mom and Dad
