Monday Mornings with Olivia.

Later this week, Viola will be picking two email addresses to receive a free 2014 Calendar from our favorite V-E-T with Quint on the cover. And trust us; Viola’s getting excited about it! If you haven’t already, leave a single comment here with a way for us to contact you via email by Wednesday, January 15th. If you’ve already left a comment (we’ve got a list), you’re already entered. Our giveaway is not limited to just the U.S. One comment is all that’s needed.

You know, Mom, there’s a lot going on around here that I don’t think you’re aware of. What might look like a peaceful household is really a bunch of cats thinking something completely different. For instance…

Miss Newton and Zuzu’s behind – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Miss Newton keeps hogging the hot bed, saying our cat room is for ginger girls only. Can you believe that?? And did you know there’s something wrong with that new ginger girl? She needs to go back to the factory because someone shorted her a tail!

Is it just me or does Pia seem to need an attitude adjustment? I mean, it’s only January and already, she’s sticking her tongue out at everyone!

And if those gingers aren’t enough, my brother Quint and that dinky little Viola sure are getting comfortable exchanging whaps! If he’s training her, you know what that means when she gets older, right?

Viola counters: Who, me? I am but a wee little one. Nothing to worry about here *wink wink*

I’ve got dirt on the others too, so there you have it, Mom. This house is full of attitude, and I thought you should know. You know, in case you didn’t already. If you need more proof, I’ll be right here, napping on this rainy Monday. Come see me later and we’ll talk.

Still Cleaning.

Clean Maxx – 2014 © Colehaus Cats

Maxx says: Our Mom is still cleaning every room from top to bottom. She washed my bedding again this week and re-fluffed it twice already. I might seem like a tough boy… and I am, but I can appreciate a nicely cleaned and fluffed bed. Go to it, Mom! Oh, and Ewwwww! I think you missed a bit of fur over there!

Later that afternoon, Miss Newton and Tessa watch the garbage trucks haul a year’s worth of fuzz, fur and fluff away. Miss Newton says: I can’t believe she threw all that fur out! Wasn’t easy growing all that. I’m going to have to start all over now!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Yes, we’re still cleaning. We’re systematically going through every room, every closet (thankfully, we don’t have many closets), every cupboard and cabinet and every flip-top box, of which we have a multitude. This is a long, much needed project.

We’re employing the three-pile system – a pile to donate, a pile for trash/recycle and a pile to keep (undoubtedly, to go through a second time later). So far, one local donation business has enjoyed the fruits of our frenzied labor by way of four over-sized totes overstuffed with sports equipment for those hobbies that never panned out some fifteen years ago, musical equipment for ditto reasons, clothing, glassware, books from the old economy, electronics, knick-knacks that weren’t valuable, just un-cat friendly, bad lighting fixtures from the ’80’s and enough mismatched plastic file boxes to restock our local office supply store.

We expect we’ll have another six-to-eight trips like this and to be fair, different businesses will get our donations.

Contrary to popular belief (Ruby, Olivia and Zuzu, we’re looking at YOU), Pee Queen Tessa won’t be ‘accidentally’ boxed up and donated to a local charity to bestow upon them her own special flair and to perhaps, help ‘water’ any dusty, unused corners.

Olivia says: It’s the new year and Mom says it’s time to organize and clean. She’s cleaning everything! I think she’s thinking of cleaning me too!

Pia says: I’m helping Mom clean. Mom says even the bottoms of my feet are like little dust mops. See how dust-free my shelf is?

And Viola, the Brave, just watched from atop the old cat tower and used some big cat words at the vacuum hose. You wouldn’t believe the mouth on that little one!

Not helping Mom to clean: Miss Newton and Tessa who were having tea in a bedroom sunpuddle and couldn’t be bothered, not even for a photo! Honestly, seeing tough-girl Tessa holding a dainty teacup is priceless!
