Waiting for Spring – 2016 © Colehauscats.com
Every day, I sit by the window waiting for Winter to leave and Spring to come. Every day, it rains and looks the same. Still Winter. Not Spring.
Hey Mom, is it Spring yet?
Nope, Quint. Spring’s not here yet.
*sigh*

Maybe, while I’m hanging out in my fort, Winter will remember it has a train to catch.

Winter Napping – 2016 © Colehauscats.com
Maybe, after a long nap, Spring will be here. It isn’t.
Spring’s never going to arrive. It’s never going to warm up. I’m never going to get to walk in the garden. My flowers are never going to bloom. Winter is going to stay forever and ever and ev…
Quint, do you feel like painting today?

WHOA! DO I EVER!

Checking out paint color – 2016 © Colehauscats.com
I started with purple. I like purple. I used a similar purple color for my Secret Paws Christmas gift so using this shade was like revisiting an old friend.

After one or two dabs, Mom added white to the color to make it lighter. I dabbed one, two more times and she added more white paint. This method is exactly what I practiced for my Secret Paws painting.

I like how the color got softer and softer with each set of dabs. Mom says this is called Om-bré. My Mom might have read that in some book. She’s been reading a lot lately (probably while waiting for Spring like me).
After I finished with the purple/lavender paint, Mom mixed up a blue color and then some green and we did the same thing – me dabbing, Mom squirting in white paint. Dab, dab, squirt. Dab, dab, squirt. All the time I was thinking, “Ombré, Om-bré, Ommmm-brrrré.”

I think it worked. Here’s one of my finished paintings. The background might look tan to you but really, it’s gray, like the winter sky outside. I’m calling it…. wait for it…. Winter Ombré.

So, still waiting for Spring – 2016 © Colehauscats.com
I love painting and love the thought of you liking me painting too. If you want to see all five of my Winter Ombré paintings, please visit my art shop. I have other paintings there left over from last year too and I won’t lie; they are all looking for their forever homes. And I’m still looking for Spring. I know it’s coming. Mom says so and sometimes, she knows best!
Thanks for hanging out with me while I painted!
