Recently, we heard a story about a very special girl at the shelter who needed fostering help, and bits of the story really made us take notice. She’s a rare ginger girl, a feisty ladycat who knows what she wants, a real snuggler… when she says it feels right, and the owner of a purr that can be heard from across a room.
Knowing a little something about ginger girls and the challenges that sometimes come with being a ginger girl whose mothers are almost always Tortoise Shell mamas and by that we mean including all the Torti-tude that can come with being a Tortie, we wondered if we might be a good foster fit for her.
The answer is yes. Please welcome Itty as our foster for 2016!
Itty is a ten year old beauty who is ginger and buff colored with individual black hairs evenly distributed throughout. Her paw pads are pink as is her nose which brightens when she is excited and playing. She tested negative for FeLuke/FIV.
She has pale green eyes that flash amber gold in accordance with her mood, and befitting any ginger girl of high status, Itty has the beginnings of dark freckles on her nose and lips; wisdom freckles they are called. She has seen her share of good and bad in her ten years and has certainly gained wisdom from both.
She was unable to make it on the streets by herself and with three other cats, was surrendered by her owner. Perhaps the economy got in the way, or something in life demanded a drastic change as can sometimes happen. Or maybe it was Itty’s spiritedness that tipped the scale for as we all know, ginger girls can be just a little demanding from time to time.
The other three found their forever homes, all except Itty. Were they siblings? Do they miss each other? That is unknown. Once you see Itty curled up on a bed and hear her purr, it’s obvious someone once loved her very much and that she enjoys comfort and stability. We are thrilled we are able to supply that for her.
Friday, we’ll share more about Itty, including what makes her so special.
