That Viola and her tongue. Always out, always waggling in the wind, but always, always willing to give kisses.

MOM! Could you find a more embarrassing photo to share with the world??

Hmm, yes. Yes, we probably could, sweetie. *wink*

Today is Leap Day. This is a Leap Year. Leap Year, Smeap Year. It’s still a Monday and my Mom still can’t take a decent photo of me without it looking like something was growing out of my head. Here’s to the hope that maybe, just maybe, she’ll take this extra day of the year to learn something about photography!

02/26/2016 – Foster Fridays with Miss Itty

We’re making our way through reading, “The Night Circus” right now, we meaning Mom and foster kitty Miss Itty. Miss Itty seems to enjoy being read to. She purrs and sits listening to Mom stumble over words. Neither one can say if they like the book or not, but Mom’s persistent and Miss Itty a good audience. Let’s also mention Miss Itty hasn’t growled yet at the novel, so we’ll count that as a good sign.

This weekend, Miss Itty is transitioning from her daily ear infection medication to once every other day and we’re certain she will be delighted in that. Not so much that she might reframe from growling for an entire day, for Mom still has to administer daily ear drops in both ears, but we’re hoping this will be a start for discovering not every day has to be filled with icky medication.

Undoubtedly, all this attention to her ears and needing to take so much medication has left her a bit depressed on top of being distrustful. Perfectly understandable and in fact, we were looking for the unmistakable signs of just that. Miss Itty’s clear sign is that we’ve yet to see her wash herself. Mom wants nothing more than to give Miss Itty a full-on bath, but we don’t think that would do her any favors either, so for the time being, we’re working on positive attention, small pets and pats when she allows them (not allowed often if at all), and that trust aspect.

Next Friday, she goes in for her first vet appointment since being in our care to look at and assess the condition of her ears. We’re hoping to hear good things but know she will still need future surgery regardless.

Miss Itty still loves her foster Dad and has taken to laying on the bed, in lieu of staying in her open cage, whenever we’re in the room with her. Tiny steps. So far, so good!
