Chill, you humans.

Okay, another Monday. We can do this, or so Tessa tells us. Last week was a bear beginning with dire and ultimately, expensive car trouble sidelining us on our way to the shelter’s open house event, leaving us to abandon the car a mile and a half from the shelter building. Luckily, threatening rain held off during that half-hour trek with an armful of Sunny’s unused special diet food and medication and we arrived tired, worried, but in good spirits. There were kitties to meet and greet!

Midweek reminded us we had had some minor house maintenance long scheduled and we needed to be here for that. No problem. The car had been towed to the shop and was still being worked on. Where would we have gone?

Then, on the same day as the maintenance work and the car in the shop, Sunny’s UTI returned. More luck shined on us as Mom had two doses of Sunny’s antibiotic, Veraflox, left over until we could get back to the vet. There were worrisome tears for a while.

The week ended with our car back (fourteen hundred dollars – new water pump, water pump pulley and shaft, two belts, head gasket replacement, a radiator flush and refill, oil change, air bag sensor reset, and two days off work), our house maintenance completed (ninety-two dollars for sprinkler line winterization), and picking up more Veraflox, pain medication, and canned kidney disease food for Sunny (one hundred forty-six dollars).

Everything is good again. Your generous donations, for which we are immensely grateful, have paid almost in full Sunny’s vet bills. Our car/house savings are a bit lighter, but we survived! Good thing during all that we had a house full of groceries, cat food, treats, and litter!

Hey, wait a minute! You didn’t say anything about possibly not having treats in the house. Scratch that chill nonsense! Someone needs to put together a treat emergency kit, and Pronto!
