05/22/2017 – Happy Victoria Day with Pia
Happy Victoria Day to our friends to the north in Canada, a mere 275 miles away! Why we don’t visit beautiful Canada more often is a mystery but there it is nonetheless. We’ve chosen Pia to help celebrate the day because of all the Colehaus Cats, we believe she’s the one born and fostered in the closest proximity to Canada, so why not?
The day is celebrated with parades and ceremonies and it is said today is the official start to the summer social season in Canada and when gardeners can safely plant without fear of frost.
Whew! All this celebrating must be exhausting for this ginger girl who’s settling into her poofy tail for what surely is just the first of many naps. Have a great day!
05/19/2017 – Friday Flashback
Once upon a time, someone decided feeding feral cats wasn’t as much fun as trying to help them live better lives would be, so she called a local feral cat lady who came and trapped this feral family. Mom heard about the feral kittens and upon seeing them, fell instantly in love with the gray boy kitten, whom she called Cameron.
Cameron was a true feral, a son of a feral mother, and it took a long time before anyone could touch him without drawing back a ventilated finger or hand. But with time and patience, he became less and less wild and a wonderful member of the early Colehaus family.
Mom and Dad believe he was much happier as an indoor cat than had he been left to learn to fend for himself in a hardscrabble life among the wild blackberry bushes alongside a very busy city street. Of course, no one knows that for certain, but we’ll gladly argue the point with just about anyone.
One thing we are absolutely certain of is that had he remained a feral in the wild, he would never have met the love of his life, Zooot, who loved him every bit as much right back.
We smile whenever we stop to remember Angels Cameron and Zooot, knowing they are together over the Rainbow bridge. If you’d like, you can read a bit more about Cameron and Zooot and the other never forgotten Angels of Colehaus Cats here.
