Happy, Happy, Happy 5th Birthday, Niblets! We can hardly believe that five years ago today, you came into our world and immediately captured our hearts. Your angel Mama Zuzu did an awesome job and is, surely, every bit as proud of you, wherever you now are, as we are. We’re sure you are well-rounded kitties and well-behaved, as your Mama taught you to be. Keep being good girls, and Russell, be the best boy ever!

Viola sends her love and gentle nosetaps. Undoubtedly, she might hiss once or twice at you after not seeing you for so long, but we have little doubt, with as brave as she is and perhaps with your own bravery, you could be great sibling friends again.

We still look through all your baby photos from time-to-time, wondering how you might look today, whether we can see your Mama in your face and eyes.

Dearest Illy, firstborn and a beautiful dark tortie, is your fur still thick and soft? Do you still have such strong motherly instincts? You were always the one to snuggle up to your sisters and brother first, the first one to learn to groom others and to watch over your younger siblings at play.

Adorable Robbie, who fooled everyone into thinking you were a boy, when really, you were a gorgeous grey tabby girl. How much we loved you and your silly, bouncing way of playing with everything. You, the ambassador of morning greetings, the first to not be afraid of the daily vacuuming or of the other kitties in the house, we know you are the bravest of the bunch.

Sweet baby Russell, you were your angel Mama Zuzu’s favorite. The last born, you were so gentle with your rambunctious sisters and had such a mellow and funny personality. We were so happy to learn you’d have a big sister at your forever home and we knew you’d share that big loving heart of yours with her.

Viola, the littlest Niblet, our own Niblet, we’ve saved you for last. You have brought us so much joy over the past five years. With your loving personality and yet, your tough, brave girl way of standing up to big sister Tessa (who you are very much like, you know), endears you to us over and over again each day. We can’t imagine life without you. We were meant to be together.

Niblets, you are all fully grown now and we know you are all beautiful. Keep being good kitties and know that your foster Mom and Dad still think of you and still have spots in our hearts reserved just for you. Thank you for being a part of our lives, even for just those short few weeks.

Anyone remember how hard we tried to get a class photo of all the Niblets together? This was the best of about 150 photos and even still, Viola was out of focus, Robbie was acting goofy and all those wide-eyed nip mousies in the background didn’t do anyone any favors – the non-profit group we made them for thought they were too scary-looking and refused to accept them. Yep, we still have some of them laying around here somewhere!

Fosterers often wish for and love getting updates on their fosters but those don’t always happen. We are fortunate enough to get occasional messages about The Niblets, but little in the way of photos. We thank all the Niblet parents for loving them and wish them well!
