Sweet Olivia came to us from a great foster home back in 2012. She arrived with baby Quint but hadn’t met him before that day. And you all know how that turned out – they’re best friends!
She was a sweet little kitten and continues to be just as sweet today. A bit goofy, too. Bet you didn’t know that. Oh yeah, goofy could be Olivia’s middle name.
One of Olivia’s goofy things to do is play “Hide the Cat.” Surely, you see a cat, right? Shhh, we’re not supposed to know she’s there! And you probably thought only Quint made forts.

Summer is just around the corner, so I, baby panther Olivia, say what better time to start some good habits. I could tell you what to do, but I find it works best if I show you what not to do. Feel free to pass these on to your humans, house mates, and visitors. You can thank me later.
Example 1: Don’t let your human forget to clean any glass tables you might have. No one likes a smeary topped table like the one I’m posing next to. Nevermind that most of those smears are my footprints, and that I’m apt to reapply them the very next moment after the glass is cleaned. Stay on top of this chore, humans!
Example 2: If you humans happen to come upon this similar scene, know that if you don’t do anything about it, i.e. you choose to take a picture instead of stopping what’s about to happen, you only have yourself to blame if the arm of the couch is shredded to bits. Give your fluffy claw bearer something more attractive to sharpen those claws on, like a dedicated cardboard or sisal scratcher. Maybe this couch was attractive once. Not anymore!
Example 3: Cats like boxes. Somewhere there’s an unwritten law that states cats can have any box they choose. Humans just need to deal with this law. If the box you brought into the house was one you needed to keep, in pristine fashion for whatever reason for example, don’t leave it laying around for anyone else to claim. Because they will, and it might turn ugly.
Example 4: Surprise! A cat food can left on the counter will attract a cat up on the counter. You really didn’t think that wouldn’t happen, did you? Silly humans.
Example 5: If humans take too long changing bed sheets, some cats get grumpy, especially fort-building, bed-sheet loving, all day napping under the covers types of cats named Quint.
Example 6: I’m throwing this last one in here just because I wanted to. Never eat anything bigger than your head, my Dad says. I’m saying never take a puff of nest-building material bigger than your head because you might not see where you’re flying. Then again, if you’re a bird and just happen to fly inside our house with a gi-normous puff in your beak, I’m sure you will be very welcome. If you happen to fly into our window, Mom will look after you until you’re on your feet again. She’s nice that way.
That’s all the good habits I can think of at the moment. I’m sure there’s a bunch more and most of those I’m sure you are all over your humans about, so no need to mention those. Stay cool this summer, friends!
