Yes, it’s warm and dry and nice, almost like, . . . let’s say it together . . . like SUMMER! It’s summer out there! My view is of summer! So, would you please go tell that bonkers sister of mine that yes, it’s summer and to stop questioning whether it’s summer or not every single year? Please, Mom? Tell her, enough already! She might listen to you!

Someone on TV said summer is here now. But, is it really? I didn’t hear anything. No one sent me notification. I don’t see any change from two weeks ago when I was positively melting with every step I took. So, really, does anyone really know that summer is here, I mean, really officially?
Well, officially, this IS the summer season, Tessa. You see, it all involves the natural rotation and tilt of the planet we live on, combined with what part of the planet gets the most rays from the sun. The North Pole is pointed mostly at the sun now and because we live in the Northern Hemisphere, we get the most sun and it’s summer for us. Complicated, yes, but without all this, we would be in the same season all the time. How boring would that be?
About as boring as your explanation, Dad. Hey, isn’t it time for feeding pretty cats like me? Let’s call this the Cheese season, and you know how much I LOOOOOVE cheese!

Mom announces this year’s raccoon, Shaggy, has brought her three babies to visit our backyard and these are a loud, squeaky, chittering bunch! We’ve only seen them from the glow of the solar lights in the middle of the night, but perhaps Shaggy will bring them out during the daylight hours in a few weeks. We’ll hope Mom is home from work to see them. And have a camera ready! We’ll share photos when, and if, possible.
The neighbor behind us recently put up a four-foot tall wire mesh fence between our property and theirs, for some unknown reason, and that is preventing access to our backyard fountain for a lot of wildlife that came up from the greenspace farther down the hill. We’re not sure they thought about that when they put that fence up, but then again, perhaps that was the point. The man of the house loves wildlife. His wife does not, and she DEFINITELY does not like raccoons, no matter how cute they appear.
