7/1/2026 – Welcoming July

Wow. A bunch of July cherries happy to welcome in the new month with some already looking to make an escape and Tessa just walks away. Not even a sniff. Who knew cherries could be so boring? Why, most cats (in this house) would leap at the chance to whap one right off the counter and under the refrigerator. And then do that over and over again until someone returns and finds an empty bowl.

But not Tessa. “These bore me, Mom,” she said and sauntered off the kitchen counter in the most bored fashion imaginable.

That prompted Mom and Tessa to have a brief discussion about who was living in this house to entertain whom. Tessa’s of the mind that humans exist for two reasons alone: Food providers and warmth. And by posing her with fruit or things on her head or any of those shenanigans Mom employs belittles her status of bestest cat.

“We are not having this conversation,” Mom said and walked away.

Hmm, that didn’t go the way I’d planned.
