4/24/2026 – This and That

When our arbor was built last year, Mom had to move a favorite daylily to accommodate one of the arbor posts. Unable to find a good location, she stuck it in the ground, haphazardly, and in a poor spot surrounded by gravel. There was no room at the inn, as she says. Last week, she shifted some things around and created a spot for it very near where it originally grew.

And there was much rejoicing. Another thing off the gardening list.

This is that poor spot the daylily wintered over at. The hole’s been filled, the sprinkler has been turned off. Nothing to see here now. Let’s move on.

The bird feeder post we’d hoped to be installed Wednesday did not happen. It poured rain all day. We need the rain. Not complaining, for the most part. We’re shooting for installation next Thursday? Maybe some Thursday in June?

Tuxie Boy stops by every morning when Mom’s home from work and is looking fairly ratty these days. We don’t know who he’s fighting with but it looks like he’s losing every round. He lets Mom give him scritches and brushies but that’s it. He loses patience relatively quickly though he’d probably stick around just long enough to eat through an entire bag of dried chicken and catnip treats if we let him. We don’t think that’d be good for either one of us. Stop fighting, sweetie.

Tessa’s sporting a mid-spring hat ensemble consisting of a long, braided felt tie, a plaid boink, one of Quint’s favorite mousies and a yellow princess crown ring set at a jaunty angle because that’s the way Tessa rolls. Perhaps more impressive is that four isn’t the highest number of toys she’s worn on her head at once. She’ll save that reveal for another time.
