12/5/2025 – Finally Friday

Finally, we got rid of our old TV entertainment center cabinets. At long last and after one dozen trolls and 8 ghostings, multiple weekends listing the ad on multiple different venues, and with the starting price of $100 or best offer and quickly reduced after the first weekend down to FREE, we had two choices: Begin the laborious task of manually chopping up each cabinet, door and shelf and systematically sneaking some of that pile into the trash each and every week for the next 36 weeks, or pay a company to take the whole giant thing to a donation center that accepted particle wood furniture.

A few hundred dollars later, we’re pleased to announce we’ve rediscovered our entryway, and so have the cats, like Tessa here who, after Mom steam-mopped the floor, dusted the walls and called it good, promptly barfed across it. Consider it blessed.

From this, with the huge multi-cabinet entertainment center that filled almost an entire wall and so much brown everything:

To this, with a more manageable cabinet layout, moveable wall-mounted TV, brighter colors and Dad’s downstairs bed:

Gone are the ratty couch and loveseat the cats loved to scratch and replaced with metal chairs that seems to be scratch and barf-resistant so far and the rug’s rolled up and stored in a long closet to rid the room of what turned out to be a tripping hazard. The chairs aren’t cozy in the least but they’ll do for a few years.
