One last look at sweet Olivia who became an angel last Friday morning. These are her last photos taken, in October and November, and would have been used on this blog over the last few days. We felt it only fair to her that we go ahead and share them.

An adopted kitten from West Columbia Gorge Humane Society and foster Mom D in 2012, Olivia was a refined house panther from the very start, and was adopted the same day as Quint. Though the two didn’t get along at first, they grew to love one another and could be found occasionally snuggled in a tangled pile.

While Olivia was an independent girl and didn’t hang out too often with other Colehaus Cats, we’re certain Quint will miss her the most, and we’ll be on the lookout for anxiety behavior in him. He’s more apt to be found sleeping near Tessa now, tucked into his blanket fort alone as usual, and next to Dad at night, so we’re not expecting much change. Please keep Quint in your thoughts over the next few weeks if you can, that Olivia’s passing won’t affect him.

Though four Colehaus Cats remain, there is a kind of quiet stillness here, sensed around muted corners of the kitchen where Olivia liked to sit and watch and felt strongest during the soft darkening hour before nightfall. We’re thinking of it as her typical shadowy self still watching over all of us for a little while longer.

Thank you again, so very much, for your kindness and gentle, supportive words over the past week. Thank you.

I am so very sorry that Olivia flew away to be an Angel. I loved her as I do all the Colehaus cats. I miss each one. Some of the most fun Katie and I have had was right here. And Quint..I have several of his paintings. They are featured prominently in my home.

  2. Dearest Colehauscats,
What a lovely final series of your beloved Olivia.
She was so sweet and looked so pensive…
Yes, the other kitties do miss their angel sibling—as we noticed here as well since Dido’s passing.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

They are beautiful photos of Olivia. I am sending good thought for Quint. When Eric went over the Bridge Flynn stressed and developed cystitis which thankfully was quickly cured. I send good wishes for all of you.

Thank you for the reprise of Olivia’s last months. She certainly knew – and gave – love. Our thoughts are with Quint too as we know how much cats can mourn. She will be missed by all of you, and a lot of us who never actually met her.
