Blog of the Year 2012 - 1 star

We were honored with this Blog of the Year 2012 award by those furry sweet peas from
Twinkletoe TAils. Mica Minnie Moo, Julie, Carlos Raphael Camaro and the sweetest Sweet Pea “Oui Oui,” as everyone knows, are Internet sweethearts and we like visiting them often. We really liked seeing the bellies recently and loved reading about their Mom’s very first cats.

This Blog of the Year award is terrific because you can get it back six times! And when other kitties who receive it link back, another star is added to yours until they are all lit up. How pretty would that be!

Thanks, Twinkletoe sweethearts. We are honored and will do our part to help you light up your stars.

We wish to pass this award to the following kitties and hope you have fun with it if you don’t have it and if you do, that it helps you with your stars:

Cherry City Kitties

Marg’s Animals

Katnip Lounge

The Furries of Whisppy

Cat Chat

Celestial Kitties

Whisker Messages from a Church Cat

Miss Newton Ponders. 2012 © Colehaus Cats.

It’s that frantic time of year. I remember ever so slightly another family going through this hair-pulling madness of digging out boxes of sparkly, glittering things, bringing a giant scratchy post inside with all the terrific outdoor whiffies anyone could ever want and then rushing to-and-fro getting this and that and putting it all just so. It was crazy! But for as much as I wanted to use the scratchy post, my family kept shooing me away outside where it was cold. And so, I runned oft.

This Mom, who isn’t my first Mom (but my last Mom, she promises) says there’ll be no scratchy post here this year because of the “kittehs,” whatever that means, but that hasn’t stopped all the other silliness. Why, there are baubles and shiny things popping up all over the place. Not that I don’t like it; it’s good for a batting session or two, or until the thing doesn’t roll around so well anymore. Definitely not cat-approved in the toy department, in my opinion!

But as I’m watching Mom and the Dad from up on high, safely away from all the hustle and bustle, I just don’t get it. Slow down, I say, savor the moments that are slipping away. Oh, and I’ll take my holiday pettings now.

Skeptical Miss Newton. 2012 © Colehaus Cats.

I mean, an entire month to shiny things? Now, if I were in charge, there’d be an entire season dedicated to treats! Followed by another season of different treats, all intertwinned with Adoring Season because we deserved it, and the weeks of Petting. Can’t forget that last one. That all makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? But a whole month to a scratchy post and what I can only describe as Mom’s short-lived toys? Seriously?

Tessa Speaks. 2012 © Colehaus Cats

The other day as I was sitting with the Dad, he asked, “Tessa, so how are things going with you today?”

Boy, did I give him an earful! And that got me to thinking. So much un-mentionable stuff goes on around here in our day-to-day lives that Mom never says much about (which is quite the feat for her because she has something to say about E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.), I figure someone ought to speak up. Plus, she was feeling under the weather for two whole weeks and missed out on a lot!

That’s where I come in! Either from my high perch or one of my many hide-y holes, I see everything…even more than Pia who tattles on everyone!

Like last month, Mom was feeling good about washing down all the corners in all the downstairs rooms just in case there were…um, certain smells if you know what I mean, because someone who shall remain briefly nameless was putting some there and blaming the rest of us. And just as she finished, the one whose name begins with M.A.X.X. must have thought, “This ain’t right,” and well, fixed that erroneous thinkin’. You could hear the tinkling sound for miles, I swear! Ewwww! And now he’s banished to the big upstairs room that couldn’t possibly have anything to do with punishment because we all know the good toys and servants and treats reside in there! Unfair!

Oh, and Quint had to have not one or two, but three pieces of string taken away from him last week causing Mom to wonder where on Earth he was getting them. MOL! The Princess Pillow, silly Mom! It has long, dangly and very tempting fringe on it! Well, she took that pillow away and now, no one knows where it’s hiding. *sad ears*

Speaking of dangling things, little sister Pia, please, check that floofy tail of yours coming from the box a wee bit more often, okay? Like berries. Little bitty brown berries…maybe it’s because of all the bugs you claim to eat. Ha! See? I warned you that if you tattled on me, I’d tattle back! THERE ARE NO SECRETS! PHFFFFT!

Got no complaints about the sweet dark one. Olivia’s a peach. Good snuggling buddy. She’ll always have my back. Plus, she’s got secret tabby stripes just like me! Shhh, don’t tell Mom. She’s always whipping out that flashy box thing to prove this, that or the next thing.

Big brother Seth, well, I’ve been here since May and I still can’t get a bead on him at all. Mysterious. Drapey. And never gets into trouble. Where’s the fun there? And always napping, not that I don’t enjoy a good long nap too. It’s just, he has two special, toasty-warm sleeping places that no one, and I mean, NO ONE cares to investigate and claim for themselves. It’s odd.

Tussle Partners.

Angelic Tussle Partners. Yeah, right.

And then there’s Newton, also known sometimes as Miss Newton. Funny, I’m never called MISS Tessa. Anyway, we’re purr-fect tussling angels and as long as the Dad gives her an hour a day and Mom stops with her incessant clickity-clicking on that laptop lapwarmer and gives me my hour a day, we’ll stay that way.

Well, that’s all I can remember for now. Hope you enjoyed hearing about the un-mentionables! Until next time, Tessa, a.k.a. Danger Cat out!

Miss Newton and Seth friendship.

Respect and friendship. Miss Newton & Seth.
2012 © Colehaus Cats.

One of many holiday blessings we’re thankful for: All Most of the Colehaus Cats get along amazingly well together (Maxx being the only exception – ahem!).

Case in point: Miss Newton and Seth. Almost ten years in age difference with completely different backgrounds and upbringings and yet, they hold high regard for one another. Especially at this time of year, their interaction – sleeping closeby, lounging together in the same room, touching and rubbing alongside each other is almost magical.

From Mom and Dad: Thank you, Seth. Thank you, Miss Newton. We love you!
