Hearing Things.

So then Maxx from inside the servants’ quarter started his yodeling behind the door and was trying to pull down the drapes and that other cat, Roobee, was just sitting there watching him like he was crazy or something or maybe she was taking notes. Very detailed notes. I’m not sure which but I’d watch that one if I were you. You never know what new cats might do, I was saying to myself, but just then, Tessa started chasing Quint and they both flew down the stairs…if by flew I mean like a herd of elephants! And then Tessa came back up, ran across the backs of the chairs and and started leaning wa-a-a-a-y over the ledge again like you told her not to and Quint followed and startled her and there was scrambling near the edge and then Pia started squeaking that she wanted up on the ledge too but Miss Newton wasn’t having any of it because she was cleaning Pia’s ears and didn’t want to be distur….

What was that?…shhh, did you hear it? What was it? Who was that? Someone’s being noisy while I’m talking. How rude! Now, where was I?

Quint’s Spring Paintings Are Here.

quint_springwatercolor_icon2 No one’s happier than Quint to share with you his spring painting collection now available at his art shop for viewing and purchase. He thanks you, as we do too, for encouraging him to continue to work on his talent.

Quint worked hard on this bunch, after practicing on the mirror and closet door! As you can see at his shop, he created half a dozen small canvases (his favorite to paint), some in pale pink and some light green with soft, almost Easter Egg colors. A day later, we helped him with a number of colorful, spring watercolors.

Note Ears of Annoyance. Again, we’re trying not to annoy him with the camera but we almost blew it here. Geesh, so touchy!

For his watercolors, he works in segments. A little apricot dabbed here and let dry. Some blue and green swishes there, and let dry. Here he’s applying yellow, one of his favorite colors.

Finally, he finishes. At least, we took his nose licking that he was finished. He’s never licked or tasted the paint and we don’t ever want him to. We’re glad he chose simple dabs and broad strokes for this set. We think the paintings look fresh and well, spring-like!

Paw(s) washed and dried, a couple of Feline Greenie treats and it’s nap time. But not before he hams it up for the camera. Oh sure, now you want to pose for us! Silly boy!

(A healthy portion of each sale of Quint’s art goes to help the shelter he was adopted from – West Columbia Gorge Humane Society, a no-kill shelter in Washington State nestled along the shores of the mighty Columbia River. BIG THANK YOUs from us and from the homeless kitties at the shelter to everyone who has helped by purchasing his art!)

Ah, there it is!

Beginning work. We’ve moved Quint from his large studio box to the master bath counter to open up the space (for photography) and because he (generally) doesn’t shake the paint off his paw. Of course, as soon as we mentioned this, he gave the mirror one mighty splash of lavender paint.

Checking out his handiwork on the mirror and then, showing his annoyance with the camera presence. Quint really dislikes photography during his work. This is just odd because all the other times, he’s a camera ham! Gee, it’s not like we’re going to sell the painting photos or write a book or anything. Probably not anyway.

He signals his finish with a swipe of paint on the countertop. A quick wash up and a pat dry later, Quint picks up Mr. Mousie (mousie #114 you should know) and is off to be just his normal self – playing, napping and chasing a sister or two.

We worked through six 6×6 inch canvases, three on a pale green background and three on light pink background. He seemed to favor lavender, pink and blue this time around though a bit of yellow made appearances here and there (the colors are all mixed within the same shallow bowl – see photos). Tomorrow, we plan to dabble in spring watercolors on artist’s paper. Unless Mr. Mousie has other plans. Mr. Mousie just might need a full day of whapping, you know.
