How to get Mom riled up early, early, early on a Monday morning? Be like Viola and intensely watch something nonstop.

What is it? What are you watching, Viola? Mom franticly searches the floor for ants because Mom’s certain that’s what Viola’s watching. Nope, not an ant in sight (for once).

No, Viola wasn’t watching Pia who was busy watching the Starling birds flying by outside the window. We have dozens of Starlings this year and their babies squawk endlessly.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Dad was poking around in a bunch of stacked boxes in a closet and found some IKEA rats nicely marinated in nip for, oh, 5 years or so and thought it was high time that kind of vintage should be enjoyed. Quint, you better hurry up and get your smells all over this before Viola gets it! She’s watching you.

Oh, pretty Pia. You’re looking so much better since giving up ant snacks and you look very relaxed and comfortable laying there on that cool floor. Hot weather is coming, you know, and you know what that means. Buzz-buzz, zip-zip. But not just yet. What we can do for the moment is a Wisdom Freckle Check! It’s been a while since we admired those, right?

Fun Fact: As a kitten, Pia had all white whiskers. A few years after her teen years, all her whiskers came in black; maybe as a tribute to her mostly-black tortie mama. Now that Pia’s maturing, her eyebrow whiskers remain black but white whiskers are slowly returning to her muzzle puffs. Bonus info: Pia’s been with us for 13 years as of last weekend. Happy Gotcha Week, pretty Pia!

It’s Wednesday, a short work week for Mom, and that means it’s Vacuuming Day. Can’t you just feel the love Quint has for that thing?

Fun Fact: As wee kittens, Viola and her sister Robbie weren’t afraid one iota of the vacuum cleaner and would rush toward it and whack it with tiny raised paws. Nowadays, Viola stays in her kitchen Island Box and acts completely bored with the whole process.
