06/20/2016 – Special
A couple of weeks ago, Miss Newton had her dental work done and she’s feeling pretty special about surviving that. So imagine, if you will, how much MORE special she felt when she received a package in the mail from someone very special herself – the Tooth Fairy!
The package contained some crocheted things – a red fish, a soft multi-colored fish, and a chicken drumstick, and they all smelled really, really good! Even the Tooth Fairy’s card smelled good!
“I like these fishies,” she said. “But I wasn’t the only one who had my toofies cleaned. I bet my brother Quint would like these, too!”
You all know how polite Miss Newton is, always sharing her toys and kibble treats. She even dictated a thank you email for Mom to send to the Tooth Fairy! That’s just the kind of girl Miss Newton is.
Or, just maybe, she shared her Tooth Fairy fishies with Quint because she wanted the chicken drumstick all to herself. That girl loves her some chicken drumstick!
Quint didn’t need to be asked twice if he’d like the Tooth Fairy’s fishies.
These are for nomming,” he said, and got to work putting the bites on those fishies.
Thank you so very much, Tooth Fairy!

06/17/2016 – Foster Friday with Miss Itty
Last weekend, Mom got to enjoy what Dad enjoys often – Pretty Miss Itty sitting on laps. Which reminds us that whenever Miss Itty doesn’t have to take medication for her ears, she is one lovey cat! She even cleaned herself while sitting on Mom’s lap and you know what that means… Trust! Trust of the lady who will grab a cat and squirt medication in an ear or two before they can say, “Pa-TOOOOOOOIE!”
Sure, Miss Itty growls every now and then (not while sitting on someone lap… well, maybe if you need to get up for some silly reason), but nowhere near as often as when she’s on medication for those ear infections that pop up here and there.
In the five months since we began fostering Miss Itty, we’ve learned the following things:
– This girl can be so lovey, including doling out headbutts, a tail wrapped around ankles, and seeking out hands to rub her face on, as opposed to for biting. For all her previous growling, this girl is absolutely not a biter.
– Miss Itty loves the Ham-micks here much more than any other cat in this house. Only Viola and Ruby come close to this degree of Ham-mick love.
– On those rare occasions when her stomach is feeling upset, she rushed to a litter box and barfs in there. She is one smart girl, and Mom’s bare feet thank her!
– Even though an entire room is dedicated to no one or anything else, Miss Itty is the only one who actively spends time in the Cat Den. Naps on the warming mat in the early morning, rooting around in the toy box at noon (after lunch), and dedicated sun puddle Ham-mick time in the afternoon until Dad serves dinner at six. What a life!
Miss Itty would love a place to call her own. She gets along great with other independent cats and shares her love freely, albeit on her terms, with quiet, understanding, non-clingy humans. She is being fostered through West Columbia Gorge Humane Society, a No-Kill shelter located in Washington State.
