What seems like a billion years ago (actually only a month past), we entered and won a truly awesome giveaway hosted by our friends over at The Island Cats. Some life stuff happened but we didn’t forget about that box that had arrived and sat there, waiting, waiting, waiting until Miss Newton had just about enough of waiting and started using the box as a scratch pad.
Okay! Okay! Let’s open this already!

Hey! What’s this? © Colehauscats.com
Inside the box . . . was a box! But not just any box. It’s a Cat in the Box Box! Dawn Fontaine, the owner of Cat in the Box and a life-long animal lover, came up with the brilliant idea of designing unique, clever, fun and functional boxes for cats. And the boxes look great!

Impatient or Adventurous? © Colehauscats.com
And are, apparently, very tempting, too! While Miss Newton was content to sit on the box in a box, two impatient, or would they be called adventurous, Colehaus Cats just COULD.NOT.WAIT. to get in the box, while it was still in the box!

Just look at how cool this box looks! It’s a giant milk carton! Why, you could leave this sitting out all the time! No more ratty-looking cardboard boxes sitting hither and fro, waiting to be tossed into the recycle bin.

And look how much cooler it looks with kitties in it! Don’t mind grumpy Viola. She was angry that she didn’t get the chance to claim Farmer Tom’s Dairy milk carton first. That title went to Miss Newton who was willing to “box” with anyone who thought they better deserved to be Queen of the Box. We could hardly get her to let others have a sit in it! She loves it!

Finally, Tessa got a chance and naturally, Quint wanted time, too.

And then Miss Newton decided two minutes was just about enough time to share and back in the box she went.

But not without a challenger! Quint wanted time in the box but he had to defeat Miss Newton’s smackie paws first . . .

. . . and won the right to check out the giant milk carton proper. Ernie of the Island Cats described it perfectly:
“This milk carton is made of sturdy cardboard and looks just like the real thing. The detail is amazing . . . the only thing missing is the milk. It’s about 26 inches tall and 12 ½ inches wide and deep. There’s 3 cutout holes measuring 6 ½ inches for getting in and out of the box. It’s put together with hook-and-loop (Velcro) and can be easily taken apart and stored flat if needed. Reassembly is just as easy.”

Viola insisted SHE had found the perfect box, the one the giant milk carton came in. Don’t worry. She got lots and lots of time in the milk carton later in the day. We moved it to various locations around our house – it looks awesome everywhere! The only Colehaus Cat who didn’t check it out was Pia because she decided a beauty nap was more important.

And Tessa, well Tessa and Miss Newton finally came to an agreement to share the giant milk carton, but only if Tessa sat as lookout, to which Tessa said, “Um, okay.” Miss Newton is curled behind Tessa in the box, taking her own beauty nap.

Later, after the first hours or so of initial excitement were over, Olivia discovered the giant milk carton and couldn’t get enough of it either. These cats LOVE this box, and we LOVE Dawn for creating it!

Cat in the Box – For cats who think inside the box!
The Cat in the Box currently has two box designs – The giant milk carton and a giant wedge of cheese. How fun and how hard it was to pick between the two when deciding which one we liked best. Each can be purchased directly from the Cat in the Box website. Right now, the boxes are only available in the U.S. and each box costs $29.99. Shipping is free!
We can’t say enough about how much fun this box has been. Someone is always in it, napping or pawing at someone walking by. It’s a big hit and if you’re thinking ahead to the holidays, this just might be on one of your kitties favorite things wish list!
Thank you Dawn! Thank you Island Cats!
