What’s Viola doing today? Usually, anything she wants. She IS the Baby, after all. Let’s ask her. Viola, what’s on your schedule today?

My day is well packed. Later this morning, after yowling at Dad to give me my daily morning combings, which he always does within a reasonable amount of time, I plan on taking first nap in my crabby sister Tessa’s box which just happens to be located on the forbidden boo-fay table. Why is her box on the forbidden boo-fay table, you might ask, when it is, well, forbidden? You’d have to ask Mom. She says the box keeps Tessa “contained” while on the boo-fay table and not traipsing up and down its length knocking the lamps and décor off. Yes, she actually said that. Makes no sense to me whatsoever. But I love my Mom so I’ll go along with her reasoning.

After a while, I’ll make my way over to my own box on the thing they call the “Island.” It’s the best box in the best location. I can see everything from here, it’s close to food and Dad’s usually nearby to give me pets.

Later still, I’ll cozy up on the back of the pleather couch and think of taking 3rd nap. It depends. Sometimes, someone leaves the remote on the couch and there might be something good on TV to watch.

If Mom’s home, I might pose for photos. Or not. If Dad’s taking pictures, I’m not terribly motivated to sit still.

And in that case, Dad gets great photos of my belly. It’s floofy and very soft and I don’t mind kisses on it.

While taking fifth or sixth nap (really, who counts after the first three??), I’m pretty tired and am thinking of how I might possibly squeeze in another couple of naps before dinner. This takes lots and lots of concentration. Shhh, I’m concentrating here.

And then Mom gets home! Time for more attention and combings, followed by lots of kisses because this Niblet gets a million kisses from Mom and Dad. This was a good day! It’s a good day everyday!

It’s almost that time of year again. The front patio chairs and door mat are tucked safely behind the fence. The yard wind chime is in the garage. All items deemed easily “liberate-able” from our place to elsewhere are out of sight. We live in an area where things go missing from time to time during various holidays, forcing us to either put things away or unleash Viola and her trebuchet upon the thieving masses. Since 2020 has been a difficult financial year, we, perhaps foolishly, didn’t renew her trebuchet license. Packing away things lying around outside seemed the better option. Count yourselves lucky, you neighborhood trick or tricksters. And have a safe holiday, everyone!
This year, say it with us: What? Doesn’t everyone’s cat have one of these??
