Dad says I woke up on the wrong side of the box today. After asking the obvious (what exactly are you trying to say, Dad?), I thought, yeah, maybe I did wake up in a sour mood. I’m not sure how this would be different from any other day in which I wake up to discover that sadly, I am not the only cat here, nor am the recipient of all of the attention and admiration. Why are there so many other cats here? How in the world did I get myself into this station of life?

Sensing my distain for much of anything lately, Mom thought she would photograph me with fruit. Hello? I am not a fruit lover like that black shadow who lives to entertain you with July fruit antics. Take this cherry away or don’t be surprised to later find it clogging the kitchen drain.

Maybe a good long stroll on the kitchen counter would lift my mood. That, and a little intimidation toward that other creature whose existence chaps my backside furs. I stood next to her feeder, glaring, daring her to jump up here to enjoy second lunch, and I held her off for what seemed like hours.

Later, as I sat in my box, I glared at her some more.

Now, I’m not saying all that glaring worked but later still, as I sat soaking up some sunshine, I thought maybe this wasn’t such a grumpy day after all. I think I actually had a good day! I pondered my place in this universe, got some well deserved attention, batted fruit into the sink, let my feelings be known to a certain irritant, and have a sunny window ledge all to myself. Hey, today wasn’t so bad. In fact, I think I’ll do it all over again tomorrow!
