Last week, we mentioned we had a snow day, or two. Our area set a new record at 10.8 inches, even more recorded just a few miles east of us. Here at Colehaus, we had close to 8 inches and this is what that looks like in our backyard. That blob is our fountain and it was gorgeous with that snow blanket.

The following morning, we measured 7.5 inches. Who knows how much may have melted overnight? Did Mom mention she had to drive home from work in this? Hooo-yeah, she says that was “fun.” Or not!

The next day, Mom shoveled the driveway and a path in the backyard to the feeding stations, the feral shelters, and the bird feeder. Neighbors call her crazy. Apparently, shoveling snow is, or once was, deemed punishment for childhood infractions. Having not grown up in a snow zone, Mom just waves her hands, tsks under her breath, and shovels away. You be the judge on whether she’s crazy or not. BTW: We’ve lived here 33 years now and not once have we ever seen children shoveling snow. Must be a whole lot of perfectly behaving children around here!

Also last week, we shared an adorable raccoon print some mystery person sent us and we hung up in our kitchen:

Adorable raccoon print

We haven’t discovered the donor, yet, and Quint was a bit miffed we didn’t have a photo of him hanging in the kitchen instead. He may have insisted Mom not pose him with a knife and fork, and Mom being Mom, ran with that idea. Thanks, Quint!

Hmm, doesn’t look quite the same. *fiddles around a bit*

There. We’re calling it good. What we are not calling it as anything we’d hang in our kitchen. At least, not just yet. Sorry, Quint. We’re still smiling over the raccoon version!

02/27/2023 – Going, Going . . .

Almost over, February is almost gone. And I’m happy to see it go. Sure, it was a “short” month, says Mom. But it was just too cold. Mom says it wasn’t wet enough, either. Yep, we’re another month short on rainfall, not that I care. I’m an indoor cat. As long as it doesn’t rain inside, I’m okay. Well, okay if maybe someone would turn up the heat!

Olivia, we’re not freezing here. The heater is set just as it always has been. You’re more than welcome to snuggle under the covers if you’re cold. Maybe share Quint’s fort?

Hey now!

Last Wednesday we had a major snowstorm here that set records. Mom also set a record in that it was her seventh time ever driving in snow, second time driving in deep snow. And she did just fine. Look for snow photos soon!
