06/05/2023 – Other Things

Mom says I’m always glaring at something or mostly, at someone. I do not, and if she were here 24-7, she’d see that I do a lot of other things. I present evidence.

Here I’m relaxing in my box. Okay, truthfully, I “may” have been partially glaring at someone who thinks this is her box, but the point is, I was RELAXING while glaring. It’s not quite the same as just glaring, is it?

In this case, I was mindlessly sharpening my nails on the rug Mom says is indestructible, therefore, is okay to scratch, unlike that cabinet she went on and on about me “inspecting” last month. Here, Mom was telling me I was a good girl because I was scratching something deemed “okay.” I KNOW I’M A GOOD GIRL! Geesh! She only tells me a million times a day what I already know (I may have thought glaringly)!

Surely, I’m not glaring here . . . just wondering what kind of sick individual leaves the food cabinet partially open just a tic, inviting anyone to partake in our kibble snacks, and causing an OCD cat like myself to glar . . . ah, to look at it really hard. MOM! Come in here and fix this before some cat starts “inspecting” this cabinet, too!

At last, I promise I’m not glaring here. Well, maybe to the inside of my eye lids. Really, I wouldn’t glare at so much if there wasn’t so much to glare at. I have reasons, you know. Good, valid reasons. I’m taking a nap right at the moment, but I promise, someday we’ll go through my list of all the reasons to glare around here. It’s a good list, you’ll see!

06/02/2023 – Hello June 2nd

Hello June 2nd! Nice of you to come along. Please leave your extra hot days stowed away in a safe, horizonal position and thank you for choosing to do so.

Olivia would appreciate non-sweltering heat, as well as would the rest of us. This year, we’re already using our new-ish front heat-filtering blinds. May had five 90 degree (f) days, breaking another weather record, and sadly, making us believe this has become the new normal here. Those blinds have worked wonderfully so far and really cut down our interior temperature.

This month, Mom goes back to her regular work schedule, she’ll find time to repaint the living room ceiling, get her once every two year eye exam, and try to keep up with outdoor garden watering.

Dad will work with a new MS doctor, keep bills paid, help maintain some sense of organization inside here at home, and make sure all the Colehaus Cats get brushies, treats, and on-time breakfasts and dinners.

Meanwhile, Olivia will seek out any unwary fruit left out on the counter. She’ll carefully nudge one from the main herd*, and then . . .

. . . surely, you know where this is going.

*One grape was bruised in the making of this blog post. It couldn’t be helped (if you listen to Dad). The rest of the grape herd went about its business cautious, but intact. The bruised grape was picked up BEFORE it found itself under the refrigerator, gently washed (because the 5-second on-the-floor rule had lapsed), and promptly eaten.

05/31/2023 – Bonkers

You know what drives Pia bonkers? A toy not in its proper place. Everyone knows toys belong all over the floor, under the couch, and under the refrigerator, or as Mom thinks, in the actual toy basket (that’s bonkers talk right there!).

So a toy on the bottom step? A singular toy, in this case, a pink plastic ring not on the floor? How could this ever happen? What’s this world coming to? Here, we thought all along it was the economy, politics, and whatnot that was wrong, wrong, wrong. But nope. It’s all about one rebellious toy rising up above all others onto a stair step. How dare this happen. Who can right this wrong? Who amongst us can make thi . . .
