Let’s play Follow the Leader to the food bowls. We hear Dad recently served up second breakfast! Follow down the hall and make a left at the toy basket.

Leader Quint’s taking the slow wandering, side-to-side path down the hall, leading Pia who stopped and wondered why he’s taking so long. C’mon, Quint. It’s second breakfast already!

Hey, if you don’t like how I’m leading, you’re welcome to take over any time, sister floof bucket.

Finally in the Cat Den, home of food bowls and multi-breakfasts.

Pia: I wasn’t complaining. I was wondering why you were taking so long to get here, smarty pants! Hey, where are you going?

Quint: To eat, and to get away from you.

Mom! Mom! Look at my long whiskers! Mom, are you looking? You should look because they’re l-o-o-o-o-ng whiskers. Are you looking? Mom?

Mom looked at Tessa’s whiskers, then she patted Tessa on the head and returned to her thoughts and long distance stare. Next week promises to be very stressful at work and every day, Tessa wastes little time letting Mom know she needs to be kept in the manner she’s been used to for eleven and a half years.

Tessa, maybe we should have trained you to be a country-wide touring circus cat, and you could bring home the bacon every week. Sure, we might be living in a painted trailer, sharing space with a llama and a multitude of acrobatic goats, but we’d probably all get used to it.

Mom, I’m not sharing space with acrobatic goats, so think of something else. Here, look at my side whisker. I’m pretty proud of growing this one.

01/24/2024 – Slipcover Biscuits

A Master Biscuit maker at work.

Early on in life, Viola took to the dining room chairs as if they were factory-made just for her. While the other Colehaus Cats sleep at night upstairs in bed with us, Viola has always stayed downstairs on her chairs. Easier to keep an eye on things, we figure. Yes, occasionally, she sits in a box on the kitchen island but she doesn’t sleep there. The chairs are for serious sleeping, and before sleeping, comes loud purring and biscuit making. And she is a master.

A year or so ago, and since our chair cushions are falling apart and our budget doesn’t allow for recovering or replacement, we bought cheap, stretchy chair covers. If you thought Viola loved those falling-apart chairs before, it was nothing compared to now. Please note holes biscuit-ed into the chair cover closest in the photo. She makes biscuits to the point of creating holes. We don’t mind. The chair covers were like, three bucks a piece. Whatever makes the baby happy!
