11/10/2025 – Toofies Time

Someone took toofies!

Viola came through her dental surgery last Friday very well, meaning she still has some teeth left. Apparently, she has the re-absorbing tooth issue in which teeth literally dissolve or re-absorb. It’s tooth loss and though not many, she lost some.

There are lots of reasons why this happens and it’s not rare or anything. She lost a canine that was broken off 2 weeks ago and the remaining bit and root was nearly dissolved already. Wow, still an overachiever, we see!

In her surgery, one molar and 2 pre-molars were removed, all showing re-absorption lesions and all on the same side or if you’re into tooth charts, Viola lost #104 (the canine tooth), #106, #107 and #108, leaving her right side with tiny back molar #109 and all her teensy front teeth.

All other teeth looked good. She’s considered at risk now and will need to be checked once a year. We’ll plug this cost into next year’s budget and have a merry Christmas regardless by not worrying about these 4 troublesome toofies, right Viola?

She has to wear a soft cone most of the time for the next 2 weeks because she has stitches. We may have to take it off temporarily so she can eat from her feeder. Tessa thinks this is hilarious and followed her around the first day glaring at her as though Viola was some sort of alien creature. Or, you know, all normal behavior there.

Her pain medication was an opioid type that will keep her loopy for up to 4 days. She’s doing better this morning. Her unsteady walk is much improved and before dawn purrs usually reserved for Mom, pre-work, are at full volume. We’re lucky she’s a canned wet food girl because if she wasn’t, she’d probably want to be one now.

We’re also forever grateful that we have a kind Friend of Colehaus who has helped us to build a vet and food fund for a long while now. Thank you, dear friend and angel. Sending love and Viola kisses to you. Thank you.
