We’re having some maintenance work done in our house today so what better time to see what’s going on outside. There’s Tippy enjoying his personal drinking fountain . . .

. . . after which he wandered out front and napped in the cool shade of the red maple. Mom would sure enjoy it if Tippy would make himself a permanent front yard napper. That would follow the tradition of several gorgeous boy-kitties over the years who called that same spot their own.

Leaving Tippy to his nap and back inside, we had our heat pump serviced late last month, next month the gas fireplace will be looked at and Viola will supervise the work. She’s one unforgiving boss so the fireplace guy best be on his toes on that day.
The fireplace is old, 26 years, and the metal plate backing has rusted since day 1. Recently, Mom saw chunks that had fallen off inside behind the protective glass. Before Dad moves downstairs on a semi-permanent basis this fall, Mom insists that fireplace be in top condition because she knows Dad will want to use it more than our budget will allow. We don’t need it in a bad condition on top of that, nor do we need to wait to have it serviced during the prime-time cold weather season when maintenance work will be at its most expensive.
Shh, Mom. You’re starting to sound like you might finally be getting a handle on this whole early, preventative home maintenance thing.

Your mom is very responsible! Tippy sure is cute.
Preventative maintenance is cheaper in the long run. 🙂
We so adore black cats!
Being a homeowner isn’t always fun, but it’s sure nice to have one’s own home sweet home.
Tippy is most handsome. We don’t have any fireplace to clean, we have to get the expensive generator serviced every year in May, before storm season sets in.
Prevention is most definitely better than emergency fixing! How nice that Tippy came to visit. e agree with Mom Cole — it would be great if he decided to do some regular napping in the yard. XO
