Ruby is getting friendlier and her fur much softer since becoming a Colehaus Cat just a month ago. We’ve learned her routine and her ours. In the morning while Mom straightens the room, Ruby likes to sit on the windowsill and catch up on the world for about an hour. There’s lots of different birds and squirrels to watch and sometimes, a neighborhood cat walking through. Then, it’s nap time until someone, usually Mom, picks her up and brings her out of her favorite servants’ quarters to mingle in the library. Ruby always complains a little over this.

Then, once the doors are closed, the real complaining begins because all she wants to do is go back in. While Mom does her Internet work in the library, Ruby ‘might’ wander over to the desk to let Mom know that she really, really wants back in. She ‘might’ sit on the back of one of the leather chairs to glare into her room, hoping that will speed the opening of the door. She ‘might’ hop up on the library window to look at the world from a different direction. She ‘might’ walk from the window, across the desk to where Mom is tap-tapping away at the keyboard and then, she ‘might’ sit on the desk for just a moment or two before jumping down and resuming her spot in front of the glass doors, knowing that Mom will need to go in there sooner or later.

Later, having napped long enough in preparation for nighttime sleeps, Ruby nibbles on food and drinks a good amount and just about the time her servants are getting ready for bed, she’ll find a toy and bat it around for a bit. Maxx, who also loves staying in the servants’ quarters, looks at her like, “Uh, whatever.” And goes back practicing his napping.

Next comes nightly brushings. We haven’t been able to brush her belly yet, but it can’t be too far away. So close!

Then, snuggles with Mom (don’t touch her feets or bitey-bitey, whappity-whap!), pets from the Dad and finally, real sleeping down by the Dad’s feets until morning.

Rinse, repeat every day! She loves this life and wonders what are your routines?

We invite all free-spirited Rubys (or whatever your name) to celebrate every Tuesday with us!

  13. Hey, we don’t let mum brush our tummies either. Even after years!

  14. We don’t let our peeps touch our feets, either, Ruby. We’re glad you included that in your daily itinerary!

  15. You have got a good routine going Ruby.

  16. I don’t see why your slave won’t let you stay in YOUR room all the time you want. I mean, what’s up with that??? Is she like afraid you’d move the furniture around or something?

  17. Jessie & Jane says:

Being an indoor/outdoor cat … I tend to spend most of the night out on patrols with a few visits to huMum to check that she is still asleep by waking her up. During the day if there are no sunpuddles I’ll give huMum an excuse for not making the bed by taking it over xxx’s

  18. Oui Oui says:

Yay for Miss Ruby! Our routine is very simple. Eat, sleep; eat, play, sleep; eat, pets, sleep; eat, sleep. Repeat next day. Maybe it isn’t all that simple!

  19. Sounds like a great routine!
Gosh, Leo’s night time routine sounds very similar! he wants some pets on the bed, but mostly he’s ready to settle down by daddy’s feet! And no, you can’t touch is feet or belly either, sigh. I can only play with his front feet when he’s sleeping on my lap and at no other time.

  20. Oh Ruby! This bluey background suits you so well!
    Lovely!
    Purrs

  21. You are such a pretty girl, Miss Ruby! That’s a very detailed routine. Charlotte is a little deficient in concentration – she can’t follow it.

  22. I am luvluvluving Ruby Tuesdays…sending Ruby some ‘confident cat’ purrrrs…Savannah

  23. Clowie says:

I’m glad Ruby is settling in.

  24. Ruby, we think Ruby Tuesdays are pawesome! We aren’t much for being brushed on our bellehs either – except for Maxi who will do anything for Momma except let her pick him up!
