Merry Christmas! We wish you a wonderful day filled with love, family, excitement, and joy.
Now that everyone here is home for the holiday break, we took time to open all the beautiful Christmas Cards we’d received over the past few weeks. And boy, oh boy! You all have really outdone yourselves this year! Gorgeous cards, beautiful photo cards, and such endearing letters. Thank you!
We didn’t put the cards up on the mantle this year because nameless naughty kitty who likes high places kept wanting to knock them down. Thinking we were brilliant, we kept the cards* bundled in a basket… but you know cats and baskets! Dumb us.
*No cards were consumed during the holidays, though a couple were licked, rubbed on, and just a teensy-tiny bit nibbled.

Quint was particularly attracted to a card from Mark’s Mews, and sat next to it for a good half an hour. That’s a good thing.

On the other hand, Tessa kept coming back time and again to read the bast turd burd story. No wonder there. She’s up a the crack of dawn every morning, nose pressed to the window, yakking at those things, probably trying to convince them to come inside for a “visit.”

Dear friend Ellen found this beautiful jigsaw puzzle fabric and made us a nip blanket. Strong-willed Viola claimed it for herself first, as well as the 15andmeowing.com card.

Later, the ginger girls had deep, and we’re sure, very meaningful conversations on exactly to whom that blanket belongs. And then, tired of all the yowling, Mom picked it up and put it in a not-so-secret cubby hole where she knows a smart ginger will find it… if they go look.
We plan to have a nice, quiet, and non-hectic day around here (knowing darn well Mom will be itching to start early spring cleaning or something like that).
Below are some of the paper cards we received in the mail. Mom set up all e-cards as her own personal slideshow on her computer, and she loves them all! From all of us to all of you, have a very Merry Christmas day!

What a wonderful post. It made me smile figuring your cats getting to the cards. Cats are smart and curious and playful. Mine is jumping up to try to get to the door frame where we placed a fir branch decorated with hanging glitter stripes. Most are too high, but we do leave a few hanging a bit lower to make it interesting and give him an option to catch one and play with one.
